Pennies for Patients Events 2020
Romeo Middle School Student Council will be kicking off its Pennies for Patients Campaign throughout the entire month of February. This campaign will help raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to aid research on blood cancers. The theme is to be part of the HERO SQUAD at RMS. Our goal is to raise $1,000. If our building raises at least $750 the class that has raised the most will receive a lunch provided by Olive Garden. All students will be given a collection box and a letter explaining how to set up online donations. Sixth hour classrooms will be competing against each other in a Penny War and individual students can participate by collecting spare change in their collection boxes and by asking for donations online. This a great opportunity for students at RMS to be HERO and help others. In addition to the classroom competitions, and individual donations,
student council members will be collecting returnables, selling candy grams, sponsoring a hat day, and selling buttons to reach our goal. Please see the attached flyer for all the details. If you have any questions, please contact Shelley Bjorkstrand, Student Council Advisor, at shelley.bjorkstrand@romeok12.org.

TOGETHER WE CAN CHANGE CANCER!
Salmon in the Classroom
Week 11 and we have juvenile salmon, officially called parr at this stage. Students in the classroom continue to mirror how the DNR raises Chinook salmon in hatcheries, allowing for first hand experiences. Daily, students are learning how to maintain water quality and perform water exchanges. Hatcheries throughout Michigan successfully rear millions of salmon that are released into our rivers. Our salmon will be released into the Clinton River in April. Last year we raised and released 86 salmon!
