Teasing vs. Bullying

News From The Art Room
Nov 2019
Second grade artists are creating coral reef collages to draw attention to this endangered underwater habitat. Their artwork is rich with texture and shows the diversity of life found in the coral reefs.
Third graders are finishing up brightly colored landscapes inspired by the Fauves, artists that used color expressively. Coming up, they will need items from nature to use in photographic collages. Keep an eye out for the Nature Scavenger Hunt directions that will be shared soon.
QUEST - Engineering Minds
Students in QUEST are learning how the importance of staying determined when their first design needs revision. Fourth grade students are improving their Gravity car prototypes to race down the track. In fifth grade, students are improving their catapult designs for accuracy when launching towards a specified target. Fifth grade students are so motivated to improve designs since they are getting ready to compete in Butler's FIRST EVER Pumpkin Chunk'in Catapult Games over the next two weeks.
Recently students in Mrs. Szczypiorski's class created Halloween costumes for the Dash robots. The students had to code the robot to create a Halloween Fashion Show. When they were finished, the students took their decorated Robots trick-or- treating. Robotics, problem- solving, and creativity equals a "pretty sweet" QUEST challenge.
Phys. Ed. - Getting Stronger
Students in grades K-2 have been working on using the short jump rope and learning how to do exercises, such as push-up and sit-ups.
Students in grades 3-6 have been working on throwing and target practice. This past week they played a game called ghostbusters where teams tried to knock ghosts off of the other teams cones.
