Weekly Words from Wildwood #4

A glimpse into this week's happenings at your child's school

Back to School Night 2021 ~ a Big Delight!

Thank you to all of our Hawk families who were able to come to Back to School night 2021! It was so beautiful to see and feel the mutual love and respect for all members of our Hawk community while everyone was on campus.

If you were unable to meet your child's teacher on Tuesday night, we urge you to reach out to him/her to establish communication if you have not done so already. The teacher-parent/guardian relationship is of upmost importance to us. Call the wonderful ladies in the front office if you need help establishing your manner of communication with your child's teacher.

Sharing in the joint commitment of educating and caring for our precious children keeps the Hawk community close and enables us to work through the challenges we are living through today. We appreciate you, Hawk families!! So much!!

Wild about Being Back in the Wildwood Library!

Mrs. Curtis, Wildwood's amazing librarian, has worked so hard to equip students with all their textbooks and workbooks ~ thank you! If you came to Back to School Night, you know that she also prepared an incredible Book Walk, offered students a few used books, and opened the library up for families to see. If you haven't noticed, let me tell ya that Mrs. Curtis is an exceptional librarian! And now she is ready to open the library for class visits and book checkouts! Yay!

Just a friendly reminder: if you have overdue books or textbooks from the 20-21 school year, please return those to the front office or to your child's teacher as soon as possible. Notices of fees will be sent home with students late next week.

Fun Friday was National Wildlife Day! (dress like an animal OR bring a stuffie!)

Mask Mandate

Recently you saw that the School Board sent this out,

"The Board of Education wants to assure you that the safety of everyone within YCJUSD and our community is at the forefront of every decision made. It is the Board of Education’s intent for the District to follow all COVID-19 mandates and guidelines as presented by the State of California specifically the wearing of masks indoors. The Board does not want these mandates to further affect our students’ class time, but we do intend for these mandates to be followed by all while on campus."

It is imperative that your child wears a mask while indoors at school. If this is not something that your family can support, it is asked that you reconsider because your Wildwood family loves and adores your children and wants so badly for them to remain in an in-person learning environment with us! If mask-wearing is not going to happen with your student, you can inquire at PEP+ for an independent study option at home until the mandate changes. PEP + information can be found on the yucaipaschools.us website. (PEP = Personalized Educational Program)
