Dear Parents,
Here's what's happening at school this week.
English
We are learning about Greek and Latin roots and how they work together to form words. We will have many in-class activities related to learning root words. We are also practicing some non-fiction reading skills and reading various articles about animals.
In a couple of weeks, the students will have to come up with a question, such as "Do elephants belong in zoos?" or "Should we use mice for lab testing?" and answer it using argument writing techniques.
Math
This past week was a short week with just Wednesday and Thursday at school. Students worked on understanding unit rates. On Wednesday, students had a homework assignment page 247(2-8) and page 248(1-6). This is due on Monday. Because not all classes were able to work on the next assignment from last Thursday, I only have one assignment due on Monday.
Looking ahead, this week students will be finishing up Chapter 4 and they will have a test over this on Thursday/Friday.
