West Cypress Celebrates Para-professionals' Day Wednesday, May 11
Team Tiger salutes our Para-professionals! Our Para-professional Instructional Aides work alongside our Tigers every day to ensure successful learning. They support our teachers as well as our students in the Art Room, the Music Room, PE, and all of our other classrooms.
Pictured above left to right are Kim Roy, Andrea Rios, Kaitlyn Aiken, Shilo Clements, Erika Durham, Shereen Hayat, Emily McMurray, Susan Ontiveros, and Nestor Soto. Mrs. Ontiveros is actually a substitute teacher assigned to our campus for this school year, and her assignments often have her working as an instructional aide.
Our Tigers love our Para-professionals, and we hope to bring that message home to them as we celebrate them on Public School Para-professionals' Day, Wednesday, May 11.

Nurse Kate Highly Recommends Nursing!
May 4 was National Nurses' Day
Thank you, Nurse Kate, for taking such great care of our Tigers.
Nurse Kate Chapman is a native Austinite. In fact, she's a native Lake Travis-ite! She graduated from Lake Travis High School, went to TCU nursing school, and has worked in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for the past 13 years. She loved her time working with infants but decided it was time to get out of the hospital setting to try something new. And, fortunately for West Cypress Hills, WE ARE HER SOMETHING NEW!!!!
WCHE Tigers love Nurse Chapman!
Dear Parents/Guardians of Tiger 5th Graders
If your child receives updated immunizations at his/her 11-year-old well check, please turn the record in to me. I will then be able to make sure that the immunization record is as up to date as possible before he/she is promoted to middle school.
There are 3 vaccines recommended for preteens. At 11-12 years old, your preteen should receive vaccines to protect them from the following diseases:
- Meningococcal disease (MenACWY) (one dose)
- HPV (two doses)
- Tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough (pertussis) (Tdap) (one dose)
Please remember that you are welcome to contact me if you have questions concerning immunizations.
Warmest regards,
Kate Chapman, RN
WCHE Appreciates the Office Administration Team! Thank you, Michelle, Donna, and Becky!

Be on the Lookout for LTISD Bus Transportation Updates
One might think that our school bus drivers would be immune to anything and everything that could be thrown their way, BUT, from time to time, LTISD bus drivers do need to take a sick day, and at this time the District is not always able to provide a substitute bus driver quickly enough to cover the route.
As a result, there are times when SMARTTag and/or LTISD will notify parents that bus service could be delayed or that bus service for a particular route is canceled. Even though the disruption to service happens very infrequently, it's still an inconvenience when it happens to you and your Tiger(s.) We apologize.
Please be sure to pay close attention to SMARTTag and/or LTISD transportation alerts and updates so that you will know if/when disruption to your service has occurred.
