IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ACT & ASPIRE TESTING

On Tuesday, April 12th, Sophomores will be taking the English and Math sections of the ASPIRE state assessment. Juniors will be completing the required registration for the upcoming ACT Plus Writing state assessment.


During this time, 9th graders will be in the Blue Gym and 12th graders will be in the Gold Gym for approximately 2 hours. Buckhorn will resume a regular schedule after testing and registration.


Tuesday, April 19th, is an E-Learning day for 9th and 12th graders; however, Sophomores and Juniors must report to school for testing.


Sophomores will take the remaining subject areas on the ASPIRE state assessment.

Juniors will take the ACT Plus Writing.


Students will be allowed to checkout after the test. Bus riders will dismiss at their normal time of 3:30 p.m.

ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

The 2015-2016 Athlete of the Year campaign, powered by Huntsville Hospital Sports Center, TOC Sports and D1 Sports is underway. They are looking for high school senior student athletes who excel on the field, in the classroom and in our community.


From September to April, a panel of judges selects one Athlete of the Week. Applicants must be a high school senior, have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and display a history of athletic and academic accomplishments, as well as community/civic involvement.


All weekly winners are invited to a banquet held in their honor in May, and two students are selected as Athletes of the Year. The two Athletes of the Year each receive a $1,000 scholarship.

SPRING BABE RUTH BASEBALL REGISTRATION

Walk-in registration for the 2016 Spring Babe Ruth season for boys ages 13-18 will be April 9, from 12 noon to 3 pm at John Hunt Park. (Upstairs in the press box of the club house.)


Individual (recreational) players or travel ball (competitive) teams are welcome. The cost is $100 per player for individuals registering for recreational play. Travel ball or competitive organized teams may register for $1300 per team. No registrations will be accepted after the coaches meeting.


Other options for registering ... parents & coaches may go to the website (links included below) and fill out the registration form and concussion form, scan both, and e-mail it to league officials. (Contact info below.)

It is easy to raise funds for your non-profit or school group at The Chill Factory®. They will dedicate four hours to your group to raise funds with their help. Your organization invites the public to attend, they provide the treats. Your organization will receive 20% of all yogurt sales to put towards your goal. Non-profit status is required for community groups. School groups must have permission from the school principal to fundraise.
