Courier Schedule Reminder

Our couriers will be making their last stops in districts the week of June 15th - June 19th. Please plan to have all interlibrary loan materials in the courier box the week before to ensure that all items find their way home. Thank you!

Reminder - ILL Statistics

Interlibrary loan statistics are due in June and can be submitted at anytime. The ILL stats form can be found on our LibGude:

Library Girl

The link below was being shared on Facebook this past weekend. I first copied the link thinking it was important to share with our administrators after the list of job postings we shared last week. Upon further reflection, I began wondering how I would answer the suggested interview questions. What would you say? Are you aware of the latest "best practices" for school librarians? As we head towards summer, you may want to use the list of questions to customize your own learning opportunities.

Call for Entries - Gale/Library Media Connection TEAMS Award

Library Media Connection (LMC) and Gale invite all media specialists and educators at K-12 public and private schools in the United States and Canada to share their collaboration success stories and submit them for the 2015 TEAMS Award—Teachers and Media Specialists Influencing Student Achievement. The TEAMS Award recognizes and encourages the critical collaboration between the teacher and media specialist to promote learning, increase student achievement, and develop 21st-century skills.

Three winning teams will receive cash prizes ($2,500), Gale products, a one-year subscription to Library Media Connection, and a choice of professional publications from Libraries Unlimited.

Apply now to have your work highlighted. Entries are due by June 30, 2015. Awards will be presented at a reception during the American Association of School Librarians conference in 2015. Visit the TEAMS Award site to learn more.

Request for Information

We have been asked to fill out a survey for a librarian who is completing her doctoral studies. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey:

My name is Catherine Masrour and I am a librarian in Suffolk County, NY. As part of dissertation research, I am collecting information on the challenges and opportunities facing school librarians across New York State and New England. In order to gather current feedback from librarians, I have developed a survey. Could you please take this brief survey? Link:

For more information, here is a link to my research website: Here you will be able to view the results of the survey, learn more about my study, and get involved if you are interested. Thanks in advance for your participation.

Best Wishes,

Author Visits

Are you planning an author visit for next year? Do you wish you were, but money is tight? Let's work together to share expenses. Many authors are willing to visit for several days and then travel expenses can be spread across multiple districts.

October 17th (TeenReaderCon) - Eliot Schrefer, S. A. (Stephanie) Bodeen, Helen Frost, Eric Devine, Jackie Morse Kessler

November 5th & 6th - Ted Scheu

Don't forget, author visits can be purchased through the Arts in Education CoSer allowing your district to receive state aid back the following year! Contact Jen for more information.
