Office Hours/Guided Study

One of the best and most efficient ways for students to get help in courses in which they are struggling is by attending office hours and guided study. If your child mentions that he/she is having difficulty in a class, please ask "Have you talked to the teacher?" If not, encourage your child to utilize office hours and guided study. All teachers hold guided study from 1-2pm MWF. To find a specific teacher's office hours, visit their website (via the LSMSA Directory).

Evening Study/Tutoring

Ms. Rolanda Myers, Coordinator of Advising and Student Support, supervises evening study hours for students Monday-Thursday from 6:30-8:00pm in the CPT. Evening study provides students with a quiet environment outside of the dorm where they can do homework, study for exams, work on papers, etc. For those students who need extra help in a particular course, peer tutors are available in both the CPT and both dorms Monday-Thursday. The Counseling Center is happy to announce the implementation of Junior College Planning Seminar courses. All juniors are currently enrolled in these courses which aim to provide them with information on the college and financial aid process. The course will introduce students to the skills needed to write a winning college essay as well as other topics related to helping students develop their talents/interests and become more aware of college opportunities.
