This year’s Homefest will be sponsored by Warren Township Council of PTAs.

Homefest activities will include carnival games, Fun Run, food trucks, vendors, Wellness Extravaganza, Warren Central Homecoming football game and Half-Time Parade.

CMS "Pink-out" Day

Thursday, September 13, will be our "Pink-out" day. This is the day that our teams wear pink apparel in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. This will also be the day of our staff vs. student volleyball game. Students will have the option of buying a PINK OUT shirt and also pay to stay after school for the events that evening. Shirts will be $7 and wristbands to stay after school will be $3 and will be sold during lunch that week. Students should be picked up at door 7 at 7:00 p.m.

JA JobSpark Field Trip Permission Trip Forms: 8th Grade

Permission slips will be coming home for our 8th grade students to attend the Sept. 26 JobSpark Field Trip at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. This is an amazing opportunity for our eighth graders to explore the many career fields available. Please help make sure forms are signed and returned.

Family Literacy Night: Monday, September 24th from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Bring the family and join us for Family Literacy Night on the Sept. 24th. The theme for the night will be "The Power of Mystery!" There will be fun rotations, refreshments, and every middle school student will leave with a special gift!

Book Fair

Parent's: Our 1st Book Fair of the year "Enchanted Forest" will be Monday September 24th through Tuesday October 2. Please stop in during Literacy night and Parent /Teacher Conferences and help support your school library! There is also a link below to the online site if you can't stop in. The online book fair starts the 19th. You can also pre order copies of the newest Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Save on taxes and have them shipped to the school FREE on the release date!

Health Hero's Vaccine Clinic

Friday, Sep. 14th, 8am

Health Hero's vaccine clinic will be at Creston on Friday, September 14 at 8:00am. They will be available to do booster shots and flu shots to students who have a completed consent form. Consent forms are located in the front office. Students should make sure they have the completed form with them the day of the vaccine clinic or they may turn it into the clinic for safekeeping.

Fall Sports Update

Fall sports are in full action next week!

Results from last week:

Boys Tennis lost their match Fall Creek Valley.

Volleyball played in the Marion County Tournament on Thursday and both grades lost 2-0 to Eastwood.

Cross Country lost their meet to Center Grove Central and Greenwood. They will compete on Saturday at the Greenfield Invitational

7th Football lost to Center Grove Central by a score of 20-6.

8th Football beat Center Grove Central by a score of 16-12.

Boys basketball tryouts will be here before you know it. Tryouts will take place after school from 3-5 pm on October 1, 3, 4. Be sure to have a physical on file with Mr. Treesh if you are going to try out.

How important is attendance for student success?

The single most important factor for student achievement and graduation vs dropout rate is student attendance (Reid, 2006). The state of Indiana with the new ESSA Plan has defined a student with "model attendance" as missing no more than 7 days of school. Anything over 7 days is defined by the state as "chronic abseentism." We have challenged our students to do even better than that and set a goal of missing no more than 5 days of school this year.

We do understand that there are situations that arise where an absence can't be prevented. Please help communicate those reasons to the school by calling the main line at 532-6800 between 6:00-7:00 a.m. to report the absence.

Excused Absences Include:

1. Personal illness or injury (please drop off physician's notes to front desk)

2. Death in the immediate family

3. Attendance at a family funeral

4. Religious observances required by church officials

5. Serving as a page in the legislature

6. Court appearance/court detention

7. Working at polls

21st Century Scholars

The Indiana 21st Century Scholarship Program is an early commitment college promise program funded by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (CHE), offering income-eligible Hoosier students up to four years of paid tuition at an eligible Indiana two-year and/or four-year higher education institution.

Students must be enrolled before June 30th of their 8th grade year.

P.E. Uniforms For Sale at the Bookstore

The bookstore will be open every morning before school and during P.E. classes next week for students who still need to purchase P.E. uniforms. The cost is $20 and includes a shirt, shorts, and CMS string bag.
