What is bullying?

There are three types of bullying. Physical, social, and verbal. Its unwanted, aggressive behavior between kids. This happens to school-aged kids. It can happen once, or repeatedly, often times with long lasting negative results. Kids can harm themselves and others because of it. The kids who are bullied, or the bully themselves, often times have huge problems.

Who is the bully? Who gets bullied?

ANYONE can get bullied. Often times kids who bully others, aren't confident with themselves, or need an outlet for there emotions. (Anger, confusion, sadness, ect.) Kids who stand out, or are a little different get bullied a lot.

1. Bullying victums are 2 to 9 times more likely to kill themselves.

2. About 75% of students admit they've gone to a website and bashed another student.

3. About 1 out of 10 kids will go to an adult for help.

4. 90% of kids that have seen cyber-bullying say that they've ignored it.

5. Nearly 43% of kids get bullied online more than once.

6. Call phones are used as the most common form of bullying.

7. 81% of kids think cyber-bullying is way easier to get away with than normal bullying.

8. 68% of teens agree that cyber bullying is a serious problem.

What can be done?

Laws have made bullying illegal. But thats just words on a page. That isn't action.

The best way to make bullying evaporate is to make it clear in schools that bulling is NOT okay. Teachers have to make that happen. Parents need to teach kids from a young age that it is WRONG. And students need to stand up and not ignore it.

Bullying can have long-term effects on a child, as well as death. This is a social problem that needs to be dealt with now. Kids should have to fear going to school. They shouldn't fear computers and phones and ipods, because of cyber-bullying. Tecnology was created to help society. NOT give us another way to mentally hurt one another.

1. Teen suicde: This directly relates to bullying because if bullying becomes bad enough, it results in this.

2. Teen shootings: Kids get tormented so much and sometimes they don't just want the hurt to go away, they want the kids who did it to them to feel the same way. Often times school shooting are BECAUSE the child or children were bullied.
