ALTON CHRONICLES

Unleash the SUPERHERO in You!

Message from Mr. Ogg

Welcome back everyone! We hope that each of you had a great Christmas and that your new year is off to a great start. The staff and I are extremely excited and honored to get the chance to work with our children again after the holiday break.

I want to take this time to thank our parents and community members for their loving support and dedication to our school. Without this, Alton Elementary School would not be the special place that it is. The staff and I have experienced many joys this last year while working with your children. It has been an honor to receive your trust as we work together to help our children become outstanding citizens in this great country. The superhero staff at Alton is committed to giving their best and loving each child that walks through our doors each day. Let’s continue to work together and make 2018 one of the best years ever.

Core Value - "Commiment"

Speaking of commitment, our CORE Value this month just happens to be that.

“Commitment - Making a plan and putting it into practice.”

It is important that we talk to our children about making commitments and sticking with them, even if we fail. Sometimes success is not from a lack of desire, but from a lack of commitment. Never give up on your goals.

College Day

Don't forget that each Wednesday is College Day. We encourage our staff and students to wear their favorite college shirt. We want our students to see that: 1) school does not have to stop after high school and 2) that they each can, and have the ability, to go to college if they want to.

PTO Meeting

Please join us at Alton at our next PTO on Thursday, January 11 at noon. We will be meeting to discuss 2018 goals and what steps to take next for our outside walking path. We hope we see you there.

Washington County Spelling Bee

On January 23 the Washington County Spelling Bee will be Alton Elementary School. Congratulations to (from left to right) Noble Pharaon, Wyatt Crampton (Alternate), Levi Dupont, and Sadaf Shireen. These superhero students will represent Alton. They have made a commitment to study their spelling words and do the best that they can during the contest. Many thanks also to Mrs. Reyes and Mrs. Hinzie for coaching these students.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday

Do not forget that we have a special holiday Monday, January 15th. On that day we recognize the commitment and hard work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. All Brenham ISD schools and offices will be closed that day.
