Macleans Primary School Community

Hi Everyone

A very warm welcome to this weeks newsletter. Congratulations to all of the re-elected Board members returning to the Board of Trustees (BoT). We appreciate your continued support and expertise in your support, guidance and direction of Macleans Primary School.

The staff are looking forward to working closely with our re-elected Board during the next three years: Nick Engelmann (Presiding Member), Matthew Cooke (Principal), Kewal Adeshara, Nick Leack and Felicity Wiggins (Parent Representatives). The Staff Representative position will be announced soon.

We farewell Leo Van Gemst soon who has resigned from our School Board after six years of dedicated service to our kura. Leo has held the property portfolio and accounts & finance portfolios over the years and has been invaluable in supporting and managing numerous projects that have added value to the Macleans Primary school environment. A huge, sincere thank you will be missed!

This is also an excellent opportunity to thank our School Board, who under the leadership of Nick Engelmann as the Presiding Member over the past two years, have added value to our school during the covid pandemic and lockdowns, providing the strong support given to all staff during the challenges of the COVID pandemic.

Our School Board always has our tamariki, MPS whānau and staff clearly in their vision so that at MPS we are showing “Together the Best We Can Be - Mahi Tahi'

Hauora/Well-Being: Sparklers at Home

Sparklers is backed by both science, NZ research and wellbeing specialists. Most importantly, it's super easy for anyone to pick up and try - that's part of the reason teachers and parents love it. Sparklers is all about helping kids to:

  • learn to understand and manage their emotions
  • build their self-esteem
  • make (and be!) good friends
  • wellbeing

Using Sparklers at Home: Sparklers is really simple. Be prepared to be 'in this together' with your child – sometimes it's uncomfortable to try new things. Link to Sparklers HERE or come join sparklers on Facebook or Instagram to find out more.

AfterSchool Activity: Brainplay

Brain Play teaches after-school science & technology classes to Kiwi kids aged 5 - 13. Find us in 9 venues across Auckland and online. Topics this term include 3D printing, electronics, coding, animation, STEM experiments & more. Free trials available for new students. We also run regular events across Auckland, including free events! Make sure to follow us on social media and check the Events page on the website so you don't miss out. Check out our after-school timetable on our website and use the form to get in touch. Go to BRAINPLAY HERE for more information.
