Texas Dyslexia Academy Series
Please note that TDA 2 and TDA 5 are 3 hour sessions that will be offered the same day in order to give you a full day's credit: 6 hours. You will need to register for each one separately.
You may share these sessions with any of your colleagues as they are intended for all teachers.

RbD: Beyond Memorization, Unlocking the Power of Spelling & Morphology to Understand the Structure of English
English isn't just "crazy."
This session will take RbD teachers on a deeper dive into spelling through phoneme grapheme mapping, syllable types and spelling rules, with the goal of helping students move from "memorization techniques and sound-it-out strategies" to discovering the reasons for English spellings.
Participants will discover what morphological awareness is, why it is important and techniques for teaching it using Reading by Design.

Getting Ready for RbD Volume 0
Reading interventionists and dyslexia teachers can utilize these materials designed to support foundational literacy before beginning a program like Reading by Design.
Foundational reading skills include:
- Alphabet
- Phonological Awareness
- Fine Motor
- Oral Language
- Listening Comprehension
Participants will receive as part of this training: Volume 0, an alphabet deck, a feelings poster, and a set of vocabulary picture cards.

Literacy Toolbelt: The Super Powers Within!
Unlock the Assistive Technology supports built into the Instructional Technology tools already in your classroom! Explore software supports that already exist in Apple, Google, and Windows computing devices to support literacy. Ubiquitous technologies like text-to-speech, speech-to-text, word prediction, graphic organizers, and authoring tools can enable students with disabilities to access the curriculum and be successful learners.

Reading by Design 5-day Teacher Training
Learn the fundamentals of dyslexia intervention through a review of Texas dyslexia laws and current research, as well as best practices in dyslexia instruction. Delve into evidence-based components of instruction and explore a continuum for developing reading ability in students with dyslexia. Learn how to deliver daily intervention utilizing Reading by Design, a systematic, explicit, and intensive reading program. Participants will receive the entire Reading by Design program with supplemental resources necessary for small group instruction.

Reading by Design S'more Classroom Video Shorts

What is the cost?
- $14.00 per user, per year
- Each teacher and each student would be a user. (EX: If you have one teacher and 14 students, you would need 15 user licenses).
What training is offered?
Two 1-hour sessions, one for teachers, one for administrators.
Dyslexia: A TEA Professional Learning Course
This course is designed for all school and district staff members across the state who serve students in kindergarten through grade 12. The purpose is to empower educators to serve and advocate for students with or at-risk for dyslexia.
This course consists of four modules. Module 1 includes a short course introduction, and each module ends with a Check for Understanding.
