St. John Nepomuk Catholic School
Mission Statement
News from the Principal
Dear Saint John Families,
I can't believe it, but it's time to re-enroll! We are excited to see all that high school has to offer for our 8th grade Falcons about to leave the nest, but we are sad to see these wonderful students leave. Returning students may begin enrolling for the 2018-2019 school year on March 12, 2018. The first step in the enrollment process is to verify the information included in the enrollment packet that was sent home with your child(ren) today. In order to be considered for enrollment, please return student enrollment documents and nonrefundable registration fees to the school office. Please see the enrollment timeline below for specific dates.
- Current student enrollment begins March 6
- Currently unenrolled siblings of enrolled SJN students and staff begins March 26
- Open parish enrollment begins March 29
- Catholics in the Archdiocese enrollment begins April 4
- Open community enrollment begins April 9
Families are required to pay at least half of each student’s registration fee when he or she is registered for the coming school year. The total amount of fees to be assessed is $330.00 per child. For those families who choose to pay only half of their fees in March, the balance, or second half of the registration fees will be due to the school office no later than May 15th. Failure to submit enrollment fees or remaining fees from the 2018-2019 school year may result in your enrollment being withheld.
Parish Participation Forms will also be reviewed during this time of registration to assess eligibility for the parishioner tuition rate that is determined by being a registered member of Saint John Nepomuk who regularly attends Sunday Liturgy and have a record of actively participating in parish life annually. The Parishioner tuition rate will not be approved until this process is completed and verified. Please be vigilant in turning in envelopes to verify Mass attendance. If the envelope is used solely for the purpose of attendance, please note Attendance on the front before placing in the collection basket.
The following updated information is needed for all returning students at the time of enrollment. The student information sheet(s) are your child’s re-enrollment application(s). Please make changes to this form and return with your registration fees. Failure to submit the following items will result in your enrollment withheld:
-Custodial Agreement (if parents are divorced)
-Changes in parent/guardian contact information (please note on registration sheet for EACH Child)
-Changes in emergency contact information (please note on registration sheet for EACH Child)
-Changes in student health information (please note on registration sheet for EACH Child)
-Parish Participation Form (this only applies to members of SJN Parish)
-Photo/Video/Social Media Release Form
-Tuition Payments Options Form (this MUST be updated each year)
Enrollment information must be verified a second time by a parent/guardian anytime between August 1, 2018 and the first day of school to verify that there were no changes between enrollment and the start of school.
In regards to the need for an increase in school tuition, through the efforts of the Advisory Council and Finance Council, we have worked extremely hard to keep Catholic education affordable. We must continue to make equitable adjustments if we are going to maintain and attract quality teachers. Equally important, we must continue to provide the materials necessary to keep Saint John students on the cutting edge of our educational programs. Therefore, Fr. Arnold and I have approved the tuition rates set for the year. Please know I remain dedicated to providing the best possible elementary and middle school experience for your son or daughter. I assure you the investment you make in Catholic education today will pay invaluable dividends in the future for your son or daughter.
You will notice that the tuition fees schedule was altered and approved by our School Advisory Council for the 2018-2019 school year. The most noticeable change is an increase in tuition for our pre-kindergarten classrooms. The goal of implementing a slight increase over the current school year and next year will allow us to continue to financially support our early childhood programs and offer students the benefit of reduced class sizes. Our Pre-Kindergarten 3 program will fill to capacity at twelve students and our Pre-Kindergarten 4 program will fill to capacity at twenty students. Being able to support our early childhood programs with reduced class sizes will greatly benefit St. John students well beyond their early childhood years. As always, families with two or more children will continue to benefit from a multiple child discount.
The first tuition payment will be due in July and the last payment in April. This procedure, approved by School Advisory Council, is aimed at resolving all financial commitments earlier as well as limiting last minute changes to enrollment that can produce empty seats in the classroom. Again, as in past years, the only form of tuition payment that will be accepted for the 2018-2019 school year will be automatic withdrawal. The automatic withdrawal is offered to families without any additional fees and keeps with the trend of our fellow Catholic elementary and high schools.
With this method of payment, we can offer two different options of dates to withdraw the tuition from your account. You will have the choice of having tuition deducted on the 5th or the 20th of each month beginning in July. In providing two date options, this also allows the opportunity to split your monthly tuition payment into two payments, if that fits better with your salary schedule. Knowing that each family’s monthly budget is different, these options help in maintaining a regular payment schedule for school tuition. The only exception to the automatic withdrawal method of tuition payment is for those families who choose to pay their tuition in full for the year. There is a 5% discount on the first child’s tuition for paying the tuition in full by July 5.
Applications are also available in the school office at this time for those families who have a need to apply or re-apply for financial assistance for the 2018-2019 school year. In order to be eligible for consideration, a family must be officially registered as parish members, be active in parish life, and be contributing regularly in the offering envelopes.
If a family has received financial assistance during this school year and will still require the need for assistance, they must re-apply annually for the assistance. Applications are available in the school office and will only be accepted through April 27, 2018. Please note, no assistance will be offered without completing this process.
As always, please feel free to contact the office if you have any questions or concerns. I thank you for the loving sacrifices you make for your children in choosing Saint John Nepomuk Catholic School where faith and knowledge truly meet.
In Christ,
Natalie Johnson, M.Ed
