Community Update
March 29, 2016
Dear Community Members:
WORK HAS BEGUN!
Work has finally commenced on the building pad for the new school. Over the course of the next couple of months, they will be removing topsoil and creating a building pad for the facility as well as parking areas. They will also lay the groundwork for placing critical utility connections. This portion of the project sets the stage for work to begin on the footers in May. There are some pictures from today below.
We are purchasing a time lapse camera that will document the construction of the building over the next 16 months. We will also upload pictures from time to time on the district webpage.

CONGRATULATIONS TO PENTA NATIONAL TECHNICAL HONOR SOCIETY INDUCTEES
On April 7th, two Eastwood students will be inducted into the National Technical Honor Society at Penta Career Center. We offer our congratulations to Dakota Blecke and Solana Lopez for being inducted this year. They will be joined by second year members Alexa Schmeltz and Madellyn Berlin at the program. Well done!
AFTER PROM FUNDRAISER
The Eastwood HS After Prom Committee is working on plans for this year's Drug & Alcohol Free After-Prom. The goal of the committee is to provide a safe and enjoyable activity for the students to attend after the prom dinner/dance on Saturday, April 30, 2016. The committee has meetings scheduled for April 6th and April 20th - all at 7:00 PM in the Eastwood HS Library - and would like to invite everyone to attend these final meetings. In addition, the committee is also looking for volunteers to help decorate on Friday, April 29th and to help out with the actual evening of After Prom on April 30th.
Finally, information about the annual Greenhouse Gift Certificate fundraiser will be mailed home in the report card envelopes - and is also available in the main HS Office. With the warmer weather on the horizon, it's never too early to begin thinking about planting some flowers and gardens. The committee and students of Eastwood High School thank everyone for their support of their efforts and look forward to seeing everyone at one of the upcoming meetings.
EASTWOOD JAZZ FESTIVAL
There will be an Evening with Jazz on Saturday April 23rd starting at 6:00 PM. This is a terrific evening filled with jazz music and dinner. The information is below.
UPCOMING STATE ASSESSMENTS
When we return from break we will begin to turn our attention to the state online assessments. Testing will begin during the second week of April and thankfully will only be for one testing window. In addition, the assessments will be shorter than last year which is another positive change. We are also hopeful that this year’s assessments will be more consistent now that there is only one testing platform instead of two. Overall, we are expecting a better experience for our kids. Please help us by encouraging them to give their best effort!
STARS SUMMER FLYER
THINGS ARE STILL BUSY DURING BREAK!
Good Luck to the Eagles in all of their endeavors!
