Literacy assessments are finally complete. The class as a whole did very well on all assessments, and I am very proud of the progress that they have all made!!!
What a very productive week we had. We did not teach any new concepts. This week was a review week of everything that has been taught thus far. The students reviewed all Letterlanders, the letter associated with each and their sound. We also worked on more digraphs taught thus far and blending the sounds together to form words. We worked on our writing skills, making sure we put a capital letter at the beginning of each sentence, spaces between the words, and punctuation at the end. We also talked about the sentences making sense. With reading, we still continued to work on sounding out words and blending sounds together. We also discussed comprehension. Comprehension will definitely be our main focus in reading over the next two quarters. Please work on all the skills we teach at school, at home.
Next week we will continue to work on our theme of winter, animals that hibernate in winter, and the weather associated with winter. We will also introduce the students to new word wall words and Letterlanders.
Next week we will continue to work on addition, subtraction, shapes (2D & 3D).
Parental FYI and Reminders
Please continue to review the expectations with your child at home. We are doing our assessments in class and it is very important that we follow the expectations so everyone has an equal opportunity to do a great job on them.
