Properties of Variscite
Variscite has many other names. Some are: Bolivarite, Lucinite, and Utahlite. It's chemical formula is Al(PO4)•2(H2O). It also comes in multiple colors, like blue, green, orange, red and purple.
General description
Variscite is used in rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. It can be expensive, but it is very common. Variscia, Germany is where it was founded and is where it gets its name. For jewelry, variscite is sometimes altered to get it's different colors and shapes.
Interesting facts
- It is a secondary mineral formed through the weathering of rocks containing aluminum and phosphate.
- It can change color from green to lavender.
