Benvolio
People should respect and help others and tell the truth
Act 1, Scene 1
Benvolio is speaking to the prince about his little fight between him and Tybalt. "Here were the servants of our adversary and yours, close fighting ere i did approach, i drew to part them"( 115-120). Even though Benvolio was apart of this little fight, he still told the truth even if it made him look bad. Which shows that Benvolio is trustworthy, respectful, and helpful to the prince.
Act 1, Scene 2
Benvolio is speaking to Romeo and trying to help him out with his problems with Rosaline. "Tut, man, one fire burns out another's burning; one pain is lessened by another's anguish"(45-50). Benvolio really didn't like seeing his friend this heartbroken over a girl and came up with the idea of Romeo finding another girl, to get over Rosaline. So eventually they all decided to attend the Capulet party, to help Romeo find a girl.
Act 3, Scene 1
The Prince has asked Benvolio to tell him who started the fight. So Benvolio steps up and tells the prince what he saw. "Tybalt, hear slain, whom Romeo's hand did slay"
(160-163). When Benvolio stepped up, the capulets started accusing Benvolio of lying because he is friends with the Montaugues. But Benvolio didn't mind and went on with, what he saw.
Theme Act 4, Scene 1
"Take this vial, being them in bed, and this distilled liquor drink thou off, when presently through all thy veins shall run, a cold and drowsy humor, for no pulse" (95-100). Friar Lawrence helps Juliet by giving her poison, that will make her seem like she is dead, so that she can finally be with her love Romeo. Also Friar Lawrence respects and understands that Romeo and Juliet want to be together and will do anything to make that happen.
