4th Grade News

January 8, 2016

Welcome back!

Parents,

It is so good to be back in the swing of things! We hope you had a great break.

Boosterthon is in full swing. Thank you for your support on the biggest fundraiser of the year for our PTA.

Also, don't forget about the Six Flags Read to Succeed. Students should log the time they read on the form that went home before break. Reading 6 hours earns them a free day pass to Six Flags!

Sincerely,

4th Grade Teachers

What's Happening...

In the Classroom:

Language Arts - Students are beginning to work on their expository writing again, focusing on developing their reasoning with main ideas and supporting details. They are also using their skills to construct main ideas in non-fiction text to make inferences and draw conclusions.

Math - We continue Module 7. We are focusing on multiplication strategies, subtracting common fractions and mixed number, and creating and analyzing information Dot Plots and Stem-and-Leaf Plots. For more information about the module, view the parent letter. Continue studying multiplication facts and logging into Stride Academy for individualized support. Study ideas here.

Science - Students understand natural resources and why it is important to conserve them due to the impact they have on the ecosystem. We will explore show changes that shape the earth's surface, such as weathering, erosion, and deposition.

Report Cards, Grades, & Attendance....

Did you know that you can access your child's information at the Home Access Center? You can set customized alerts if your child is missing an assignment or has a certain grade. There is even an app for that! If you are unsure of your login, please contact the front office to help.

What's my login?

Access Moodle at home at moodle.nisdtx.org. Students' login is: firstname.lastname and password is their student ID number.

Under "My Courses", they can click on K.Dwyer - 4th for the course to find the Texas Symbols forum.

We are excited for more to come on that.
