Meet Ms. Ashley Richards
School Counseling Intern
A message from Ms. Richards...
Hi Everyone!
My name is Ashley Richards and I am excited to spend the next few months at Lakeland working alongside Mrs. Valonis and Mrs. DeQuevedo as a school counseling intern.
A little bit about me: I have a Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Scranton specializing in Elementary Education K-6 as well as Special Education K-12. I am currently a student at the University of Scranton in the final stages of completing a Master's degree in School Counseling, K-12, with the hopes of graduating in May!
Before my school counseling journey began, I spent four years in the classroom, teaching first, fourth, and sixth grade. Through my experience and passion of working with children in the classroom setting, I realized that I wanted to extend my capabilities and pursue a master's degree in School Counseling.
In my free time, I like to spend time with my family, friends, and best friend, Milly (my dog!) Some of my favorite weekend activities are playing tennis, cooking, and Netflix! During the warmer months, my favorite place to visit is the beach.
I am excited to begin this journey and meet as many of you as I can along the way!
What Do Interns Do?
Ms. Richards is here to help address the academic, personal/social, and career preparation needs of our students! She will be meeting individually with students, running classroom guidance lessons, assisting with the already implemented guidance events (i.e.: College & Career Fair), in addition to all the other roles and responsibilities of a high school counselor!
Stop by the counseling office to see Ms. Richards and introduce yourself; welcome her to the TRIBE; and show her how great it is to be a Lakeland Chief!
