We are busily preparing for Biz Town. Thank you to all of the parents who have volunteered to work as a chaperone at Biz Town. I have had 12 parents volunteer, but we are only allowed to bring 7 parents per class. I will be putting the 12 names in a basket tomorrow and pulling them at random. I will send a separate email to those parents who requested to be chaperones. As a reminder, chaperones must be down at the Biz Town facility by 8:00am on the day of the field trip to be trained. (There will be a 5th grade teacher at school early that day so you can drop your student off at LCM early if you need to.) If you are unable to make it to the early morning training on the 8th, please let me know so I can take your name out of the running. Thank you!
Thank you SO much for donating to cover the cost of the owl pellets! I truly appreciate it! We have been working diligently to dissect our pellets. It requires a lot of patience and meticulous work. The students have been doing an amazing job and we are nearing the point of having cleaned off all the bones. Hopefully, most of us will be able to begin sorting our bones, determining what kind of animal our owl ate, and reconstructing the skeleton this week. It has been fun to see the students making connections between the bones they find and the bones of the human skeletal system!
We recently finished studying about the events leading up to the writing of the Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution, so I thought it would be fun to watch the movie National Treasure, which follows the story of an archaeologist trying to track down the original drafts of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution in order to solve a centuries-old mystery. Because this movie is rated P.G., I need parental permission in order for your child to watch it. I plan to show the movie this Friday afternoon. I will be sending home a permission slip in the next day or so.
