MUSIC MURAL UPDATE
In partnership with PTSA and FIHP, Friends of Reed is thrilled to be funding a new music-themed mural on campus! It will replace the one near the trash area that has been patched beyond repair. The work is being done by Muralism, a local non-profit and LAUSD-approved vendor that employs special-needs adults and involves the entire community in their projects. The founder is also a former Reed parent, Ernie Merlan. Check them out: muralism.org Prep work will begin the week of May 16th, and community paint days with students/staff will be on May 23rd & 24th during school. More information will go out to students in the coming weeks.

MULTICULTURAL FAIR UPDATE
The GLA Multicultural Fair was a huge success netting over $3,200, bringing the community together, and highlighting all the amazing work that is done at Reed. So many people contributed to making the Multicultural Fair the spectacular event that it was -- Ms. Steen (teacher lead), Ms. Silberschein (GLA Chair), Theresa Barnts (GLA Parent Rep), the students, parents, FoR, school-based staff, and our custodial staff—Alfredo and Omar and the guys—for their extra work to make this event happen.
8th GRADE DANCE
Our 8th grade students had a blast at their 8th Grade Dance this past Friday night. Special thanks to event planners Bridgette Fischer and Rachel Mass, 8th Grade events chair Joan Harvey, DJ Michele Dahl, sound and lighting run by Reed parents Dean Maya, and Claudia and Jose Gabriel, and all the parent volunteers and the incredible Reed staff. The campus looked amazing and the kids had so much fun with their tacos, ice cream and churros, the decor and music, and spectacular lighting effects!! Truly an awesome group effort that was so appreciated by these kids!
