News for Our Tuscaloosa County School System Community
The Tuscaloosa County School System has partnered with school safety technology company Gaggle, to provide the SpeakUp for Safety tip line to our TCSS community. The SpeakUp for Safety tip line provides a way to confidentially report threats of violence, bullying, peers in crisis, and other imminent threats through email, phone call, or text message. There is no need to download a mobile app in order to use the tip line.
Email address: firstname.lastname@example.org
Call or text: (659) 734-2808
Trained Gaggle safety representatives evaluate information that comes into the tip line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Immediate Opportunities for Bus Drivers & Bus Aides
The Tuscaloosa County School System is actively seeking bus drivers and bus aides, with immediate positions available for hire! Please share this information with anyone you know who would be a good candidate to join our transportation department. Hands-on training is provided, and bus drivers and aides are eligible for insurance and retirement benefits. These positions can be a great fit for people who have other jobs, or those who want to work part-time.
To help candidates get started with the process, as well as answer additional questions, the TCSS Transportation Department will host orientation meetings on Tuesday, May 11, at 6:30 pm. The same information will be provided at both meeting locations.

At the April 26 Board of Education meeting, the Board approved the installation of turf for the football field at Tuscaloosa County High School. This project comes alongside several other district-wide improvements, recently approved by the Board.
These projects include:
- Classroom addition at Vance Elementary
- Renovations at Myrtlewood Elementary
- Cafeteria expansion and addition at Northside Middle
- Cafeteria expansion and career technical education annex at Hillcrest High
- Facility upgrades for Northside High baseball
- Activity building for Taylorville Primary
The projects at Vance, Myrtlewood, Northside Middle, Northside High, Hillcrest High, and Taylorville are being funded through a total of approximately $22 million in Alabama Public School and College Authority (APSCA) bond issue money. In order to be funded with this money, projects must be completed within the next two years.
During upcoming Board work sessions, the Board will review the district-wide capital plan. This plan involves academic, athletics, and extra-curricular facilities and projects.
