ACT/SAT Exam Recommendations During COVID-19
From Mrs. Grasinger, I Know I Can...
Many changes to college admission requirements have occurred over the last few months due to COVID-19. The one you may be most excited to hear about is a move towards test-optional for many colleges and universities.
What is test-optional?! Test-optional means you are not required to submit your ACT or SAT test scores to a college or university for admission review. Yep, your ACT scores do not need to be sent and reviewed by the university to gain admission.
The move towards test-optional by colleges and universities is a result of many ACT/SAT exams being cancelled and the limited number of students able to take the exams because of COVID-19 space precautions.
So, what does this mean for you? Well, you need to do a little research...
If you're planning on applying to college you will need to check the admissions requirements of the schools you are interested in to see if they are test-optional. You can review test-optional schools here: https://fairtest.org/university/optional or by looking at university/college specific websites.
In addition, if you're interested in a competitive/direct-entry program like nursing, engineering or architecture you should double check that the program you're interested in does not require test scores for admission.
Still interested in taking the ACT/SAT?
There are limited opportunities to take the ACT/SAT if you're interested in retaking or applying to a school that requires you submit your test scores. For registration help and fee waivers, please contact me (grasingera@wcsrams.org) for help and more information.
One last note...
It is possible that some scholarship opportunities, both from the university, nationally and locally, may require you to submit test scores as part of the scholarship application.
Questions?
I'm always here to chat it out! Feel free to contact me at grasingera@wcsrams.org, 216.714.2482 or set up a Google Meet appointment here.
