Garden To Table
New term and we are straight back into it. It’s the in between season in the garden where there is plenty to do but not a massive amount to harvest. This week the garden teams have especially busy harvesting kumara, wow what a great crop! Mulching the garden, planting out seeds and sorting out our compost bins. Excitingly we have had grant approval from the Mazda Foundation to get some new compost bins. The garden team are really looking forward to having more function in this area because the current ones are definitely on their last legs - literally.
In the kitchen we used up the spring onions and some herbs to make a Chinese style pancake - not a scrap left for the chickens! Our Kaitaki class also made a jalapeño and spring onion cornbread. Very tasty and filling. The tamariki are certainly improving their knife skills every week. We look forward to some kumara in our puku next week!

Te Ika Iti
Te Ika Iti had a busy start to Term 2. Working on our new Dinosaur Floor puzzle and children helping each other work out how many bears in the cave! They had 6 bears between buddies and rolled a dice to subtract from six!
Waka
We are also focussing on our school value Ako, which means ‘our knowledge and understanding grows’. We recognised several students who’ve shown their growth mindsets by giving them waka points. Ka pai!
Stars of the Week
Here are our stars of the week from our Junior School assembly today. Well done everyone!
