Cardinal Connection

Cedar Ridge Elementary

Welcome to CRE 2021-22

Dear Cedar Ridge Families,

I hope this message finds you relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year. I am excited that you are part of our amazing learning community. I welcome you and value your positive energy and dedication to excellence in education and look forward to working with you and your children.

Our skilled and dedicated staff is already planning and preparing for your child. Our hard-working custodians have spent the last few weeks of summer thoroughly cleaning the building. Our teachers have been involved in professional development as well as creating a student-centered classroom. Also, our much-appreciated Family Teacher Organization (FTO) is gearing up to welcome families, provide volunteer opportunities, and offer exciting events for this school year. We are indeed a community with the common goal of providing a solid education in a nurturing and caring environment for our students.

Each year brings positive change, and this includes a few additions to our Cedar Ridge Staff. Please join me in welcoming the following classroom teachers to our community:

Grace Beerly, Kindergarten Teacher

Stephanie Shafer, Kindergarten Teacher

Amanda Kinkead, 2nd Grade Teacher

Abbi Faust, 3rd Grade Teacher

Monica Tracy, 3rd Grade Teacher

Allison Ziegler, 3rd Grade Teacher

Jessica Tierney, 4th Grade Teacher

Roma Long, 5th Grade Teacher

Somaly Moore, 5th Grade Teacher

Nissa Armstrong, DABI

Lisa Brooks, K-2 DASI

As we planned for this exciting new school year, a great deal of time, effort and thought has gone into the process of student placement. Careful consideration was given to input from staff as well as student learning styles. Classrooms have been balanced academically and socially. Our class lists are structured to provide equitable class sizes at each grade level. Moving students is difficult without causing imbalances and inequities. Thank you so much for being positive with your child and helping him/her understand that it is impossible to place all students with a preferred best friend or teacher.

As we embark on this new school year, you will have an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher during our Meet the Teacher Night, August 19th from 4:30-6:30pm. The first day of school for grades 1st-5th is Tuesday, August 24th and the first day of school for our Kindergarten students is Thursday, August 26th. School begins at 8:20am and dismissal is 3:20pm. Students may enter the building as early as 8:00am and breakfast is served at no cost.

I eagerly look forward to greeting students and families again. It remains an honor and privilege to serve as your principal. Together, we will make the 2021-2022 school year one of growth and achievement for all children.

Health and Safety Guidelines 2021-2022

Columbia Public Schools number one priority is the safety and well being of our students and staff members. The district continues to collaborate with the health department in developing health and safety guidelines for the 2021-2022 school year. We anticipate these guidelines to be finalized soon.
