Karmen B - OCD Assignment

I DONT THINK ANYONE USED BRAIN PLASTICITY OR ASSOCIATION AREAS! KARMEN DEFINITELY WAS UNIQUE WITH HER TERM SELECTION!

Much of what happens can be seen working in the association areas of the brain. These areas control parts of one's personality and learning. One may learn to be afraid or obsessed with a certain behavior or way and it then becomes part of their personality and day to day life. The girls behavior and personality towards her family drastically changed, becoming more distant and afraid as compared to her previous, loving, close family portraits and photos. Over time, her brain has learned, due to chemical imbalances and her "Light switch" not working, to be afraid of her family.

The brains plasticity helps the brain change and adapt as a person grows. As one develops an OCD pattern or behavior, the brain is able to change to help accommodate this behavior and even furthering the OCD. Luckily, the plasticity of the brain still allows the brain to change in order to help one over come OCD. The brains ability to change over time is shown when the video mentions that after 8 weeks, the girl is finally able to touch her mother again.
