Principal's Message
Hello Wildcat families,
I hope everyone is enjoying an extra-long weekend and hopefully some time together with your family. My daughter performed with her dance company to kick off the Roswell Youth Day Parade on Saturday. This is an annual event for us and it’s fun to have traditions we can think back on and talk about how much our family has grown and changed over the years.
Speaking of which, October is Communicate with your Kids Month. This is a great reminder to regularly take time out of your day to talk with and really listen to your kids. Having conversations with adults benefits children in a lot of ways. Research shows that kids who engage in regular conversations with adults have bigger vocabularies and greater self-confidence. I also believe that if you start listening to your kids when they are young, you have a much better chance that they will continue opening up to you as they get older.
Need help thinking of ways to get your kids talking? Check out this article with 65 conversation starters. One other question I like to ask my kids is, “What happened in your life today that doesn’t happen every day?”. Whatever questions you ask, make sure you share your answers too. Kids love learning about their parents, and they get to practice their listening skills as well.
All the best,
Stephanie Haga

If your child is interested in being a class leader, has great ideas to help make Wilson Creek an awesome place to learn, is not afraid to speak in front of large crowds and has lots of school spirit, then your child would be the perfect candidate to run for a Student Council position.
4th and 5th grade homeroom teachers will be sending out a link for those interested in running for a student council position. All interest forms must be submitted by October 20. Information pertaining to the process with be sent out only to those who submit the interest form.

School Bus Safety
Dear Fulton County Schools Families,
School bus safety is a top priority for our district. While parents may sometimes have complaints, comments, or suggestions for bus drivers, it is important to understand our buses run on very specific schedules. Please do not board the bus for any reason. It is illegal in the state of Georgia to impede a school bus. If you would like to speak with someone about your bus route or have a concern, please give a note to your school bus driver with your name, bus stop location, and contact information so our Transportation department can get back to you.
We look forward to delivering your students safely to and from school.
