Where Everyone Can Succeed
From the Principal
Welcome to the Glendore Community. We are a large school with over 700 students and 27 classes. There will be five Kindergarten classes in 2023. This means that we are able to provide your child with lots of different and unique opportunities both academically and in sport.
At Glendore everyone can succeed through tailored programs to suit every student. You will be guided on this new exciting adventure by Mrs Ingrid Bellamy our Kindergarten Assistant Principal who has an off class role and works in every Kindergarten classroom supporting both students and teachers.
Students at Glendore are achieving outstanding results both in English and Mathematics as well as History, Geography, Science, Creative Arts and Sport, PD & Health.
I look forward to meeting all of the new parents at the Parent information session and all students during their transition visits.
Welcome to our wonderful school.
Mrs Simone White Rel. Principal - Glendore
Welcome to Glendore Public School!
As a part of my role as Deputy Principal, I oversee student attendance at Glendore Public School and work closely with our Assistant Principals, Teachers, Parents/Caregivers and students to ensure all students attend school regularly.
Regular attendance helps students to; develop a sense of belonging, maintain and develop friendships, progress with learning, be more engaged at school and is essential to assist students to maximise their potential.
‘Above 95%’ attendance rate is the NSW Department of Education’s Attendance goal for all students.
Parents/Caregivers can help foster positive attendance habits by:
- helping their child learn the importance of punctuality and routine
- ensuring their child arrives on time from the start of the school day, ready to participate in learning
- reducing disruption to learning where possible, by planning any necessary appointments outside of school time
- promptly communicating any absence to the school (within 7 days of the first day of any absence)
- working with the school to encourage and support regular attendance.
On occasion, your child may need to be absent from school. Justified reasons for student absences may include:
- being sick or having an infectious disease
- having an unavoidable medical appointment
- being required to attend a recognised religious holiday
- exceptional or urgent family circumstances e.g. attending a funeral.
Parents must provide an explanation for absences to the school within 7 days from the first day of any period of absence. Our Sentral Parent Portal is a fast and effective way to manage your child’s absences from school.
Parents/Caregivers can explain their child’s absences on Sentral Parent Portal in advance of an absence, on the day of absence or within 7 days from the absence. Where an explanation has not been received within the 7-day time frame, the absence will be recorded as unjustified on the student's schooling record.
I am looking forward to meeting your child as they commence their primary school journey at Glendore Public School!
Miss Erin Lewis
Deputy Principal - Glendore
Mrs Bellamy - Assistant Principal Early Stage One (Kindergarten)
My role as Assistant Principal for Kindergarten covers several different areas. I teach all classes for History and Geography while teachers complete preparation tasks. In my Instructional Leadership role I support teachers to improve their skill set through demonstration and team-teaching. I am also responsible for learning support for the grade which may be supporting students in the classroom or withdrawing small groups. It may also be attending Learning Support Meetings with classroom teachers and parents to discuss and support students with their learning and behaviour. All of these roles allow me to know all the students in the grade really well and support families to achieve the best educational and wellbeing outcomes.
I am committed to ensuring that Glendore PS has an exceptional Kindergarten transition program so all students have a strong and successful start to school. I am looking forward to having all of the new Kinder students join us for the classroom visits next term.

What is the Best Start Kindergarten Assessment?
- Best Start Kindergarten Assessment identifies student’s literacy and numeracy skills on entry to Kindergarten. It has been conducted in all NSW public schools since 2010.
- The Best Start Kindergarten Assessment supports the NSW Government’s Literacy and Numeracy Strategy 2017 – 2020 and is mapped to the National Literacy and Numeracy Learning Progressions.
- The assessment is conducted in line with existing school practices and builds upon teaching and learning programs that support students in the transition to school.

- The purpose of Glendore PS Buddy program is to support a smooth transition for our Kindergarten children starting school.
- This program will promote social and support networks for children beginning Kindergarten and promote a sense of community and belonging in our school.
- Kindergarten students are placed in a Buddy Group with a Group of Year 6 Buddies on their first day of school.
- Buddies look after the kindergarten students for the first few weeks of school. Year 6 buddies come to the Kindergarten classrooms each lunch and recess and look after our new students in the playground.
- They help teach our Kindergarten students the school rules and values, assist them with eating times and encourage them to play with their new friends.
- Back in the classroom, throughout the year, Year 6 buddies are invited to come and join in with the kindergarten activities.
- These may include reading to the students, helping them with their writing and join in with art and craft activities.
Glendore PS use an invoicing system called School Bytes which does the following;
Online parent payment portal
- Parents receive an email with a button to open their personalised payment portal.
- They can choose which line items to pay for, the amount they wish to pay and apply any unallocated credit to items.
- They can see how much they have already paid against each line item.
- Parent portal is integrated with the existing Westpac Parent Online Payment (POP) system, so on submission parents are redirected here to complete their payment securely.
Parent Communication
- The parent communication module allows schools to send personalised email correspondence to parents/carers and students in bulk, such as for newsletters and general notifications.
- Our P&C plays an important role in supporting the school’s teaching and learning activities and is the forum for parents, caregivers and citizens who have an interest in their children’s education.
- Aims
- Bringing the community, students and staff together, to promote the best interests of the school
Assist in the provision of resources, facilities and amenities for the school
Encouraging communication, cooperation and participation within the school community
Providing a forum of discussion on school issues and gathering of ideas
The fostering of community interest in education
- Our P&C is interested in actively promoting a strong and vibrant school community with open, transparent lines of communication, so to provide our children with a first-class learning environment.
- Communication
- Information is posted on the school website, posted on our Facebook page and included in our Newsletter.
- You are welcome to email suggestions to the school at any time.
- While not everyone wants to or is able to be a position holder, everyone can be involved. This can include the following;
reading about what the P&C is doing.
making suggestions on how we can improve our school.
supporting fundraising efforts with either time or donations.
attending meetings to participate in positive, vibrant discussions.
- All important and welcomed.
- Fundraising
- An important element of our P&C is fundraising. The P&C organises numerous fundraising activities each term including Mothers’ Day & Fathers’ Day Stalls, Xmas Raffle and many more.
- Without the support of families, teachers and the wider community in fundraising activities, the P&C are not able to give back to the school.
- The extra money we raise, the more resources that can be purchased for our school, benefiting all our children.
- We thank all families and the community for supporting our fundraising activities, so that we can support our school and students!!
- Meetings
- The P&C meets Mondays, twice a term (the third Monday of each month) in the school library. Our meetings start at 6:30 pm and dates are posted on the school website, Facebook page and Newsletter.
- A spread of parents from throughout the school helps ensure decisions made encompass and benefit all. The more that people involved, the easier it is to enhance our wonderful school community. It’s also a great way to meet other parents.
We look forward to seeing you at our meetings.
- Before School, After School and Vacation Care is operated by the YMCA and is operated on the school premises.
- Parents can drop their children off early in the morning for supervision by highly qualified and trained YMCA staff from 6:30am and concludes at 8:30am. Supervision commences again after school by YMCA Staff at 2:40pm and lasts up until 6pm.
- The children's interests are the foundations of our programs. We encourage children to be involved in interesting and exciting play experiences and explore their natural talents and potential. Children enjoy different team sports, dancing, indoor discussions and activities, such as art and craft. Homework is encouraged.
- We inspire all children to engage in a healthy lifestyle. We offer breakfast and afternoon tea in accordance with government recommended healthy eating guidelines. We also encourage children to participate in outdoor active play.
