Winter MAP Testing - Senior Kindergarten thru Fifth Grade
Winter MAP Testing Kindergarten thru Fifth Grade
We give students MAP tests to determine your child’s instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year, and from year to year in the areas of reading and math. SK through 5th grade will use chromebooks in their classrooms to complete the MAP tests.
MAP tests are unique in that they adapt to be appropriate for your child’s level of learning. As a result, each student has the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive attitude toward testing. Each school year, students at the elementary level take the tests during Sept/October, January and May. Following each testing period, you will receive a report showing your child’s growth. If you have any questions about MAP testing, please contact your child(ren)’s teacher.

Parent Listening Session - January
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As you may know, the Wauwatosa School District has adopted its first District Equity Plan. In brief, this plan consists of five main pillars developed through extensive dialogues with the Wauwatosa School District’s Equity team. It also has its theory of action tied to the Culturally Proficient Schools and Administration Offices policy 5440. The team created the following five pillars:
Empower all students to achieve their own academic vision/goals and encourage excellence in education for all;
Increase and improve cultural awareness/competence of all teachers, administrators, and staff;
Ensure a welcoming, safe, inclusive, and equitable school environment for all, where we value all students and respect their differences;
Recruit, hire, and retain teachers, administrators, and staff of color; and,
Strengthen parent and community partnerships.
In regard to Pillar 5, Strengthen Parent and Community Partnerships, I would like to invite you to a sharing opportunity in an open dialogue format. On Thursday, January 24th from 6:00-7:30 pm, please come to share your thoughts about your family’s overall experience at Washington. Childcare for children ages 4-13 will be available during the meeting. Please complete this questionarre if you plan to use the childcare services.
If you have any questions about the meeting, please contact me at 414-773-1800. I look forward to this opportunity.
Sincerely,
Joe Russell
The importance of equity work in the Wauwatosa School District extends through many years of dialogue, collaboration and action plans. This work can be seen in many of our documents that have been created over the last 5 years. These documents include our Culturally Proficient Schools and Administration Offices (CPSA) policy 5440, Strategic Objectives 2016-2021, Wauwatosa Core Principles of Teaching and Learning for All, District Teaching and Learning Alignment, and our Instructional Framework. The outcomes of these documents are a part of our continuous learning as a district. We believe these documents will help us exceed the expectations of culturally relevant teaching and high academic achievement for all.
Health Reminders...
Please read the following documents which include helpful reminders about head lice and when to keep your children home due to illness.
