All of our teachers are committed to maintaining a safe and caring environment for all students, so I can assure you that your child will be in good hands.
“Meet the Teacher” will take place on August 14th at 1:45pm-2:30pm. This is a great opportunity to meet your child's teacher, learn about the expectations for the school year and see your child’s classroom. If you are unable to make this event, please feel free to email your child's teacher to connect at a later time. School supply lists are available on our district website and linked here for your convenience School Supply Lists. You may bring labeled supplies at this time or you can send with your child on the first day.
Cougars Celebrations
We are a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports) school and strive to be kind and respectful community members. We expect all students and staff to model exceptional behavior through our motto: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe. We recognize and celebrate our students’ successes with demonstrating exceptional behavior in the following ways:
Cougar Paws:
Students earn Paws when demonstrating behavior that goes above and beyond expectations.
Monthly, students will have an opportunity to trade in the PAWs at our school store for small trinket items and/or a variety of coupons of their choice (pajama day, lunch with the Principal, bring a stuffed animal to school etc).
Cougar Rallies
Monthly school behavior goals are set.
If goals are met, the school earns a school-wide celebration, ideas generated by students.
Classrooms are recognized for outstanding behavior by Specials teachers and areas outside the classroom.
Goal setting and recognizing expected behavior helps us increase positive behavior and unity. I am proud to share during the 2022 -2023 school year, our monthly school goals were met every month! We look forward to the same level of success this year! To support this goal, please continue to help us talk with your child about ways to spread kindness and strategies to use when solving problems.
News from Nurse Opper
We are excited to introduce our new nurse, Sarah Opper who comes with great nursing experience and is a proud parent of District 15 children.
Please kindly drop off any needed forms and medications to our Nurse's Office any time between now and August 17th. Please take a moment to review the important medical information below. We look forward to a healthy and happy school year!
All students new to District 15 will require a current physical exam with all immunizations up to date (Certificate of Child Health Examination), and students new to the State of Illinois will require an eye examination. This form is available in the school office, online, and here: State of Illinois Eye Examination Report.
All students should provide proof of immunizations by October 15, 2022 or the student will be excluded from school. The list of current immunizations can be found on the district website here: IDPH Health Requirements.
Students with health conditions such as asthma, epilepsy/seizures, severe allergies, and diabetes require the emergency action plan completed by their physician along with the Medication Administration Forms, signed by the physician and parent, for any medications required at school. Please bring these forms and medications on or before the first day of school. These forms are available in the school office, online, and here.
Diabetic Medical Management Plans must be brought in along with medication and supplies prior to or on the first day of school in order for the student to attend. If your child requires any of these health documents and you have not done so already, please kindly make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible. If you have any questions regarding the above requirements, you may contact our school office.
Breakfast & Lunch Information
Both breakfast and lunch will be provided to all students who would like to eat the food served each day. Students at Kimball Hill are offered FREE breakfast and lunch daily starting the first day of school as part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program, funded by the federal government. Students may bring a lunch from home if they prefer to do so.
What does this mean for families attending the CEP school like Kimball Hill?
Again, all enrolled students will receive a free breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to your household. Your child(ren) will be able to participate without having to pay a fee, but we ask that you still complete the Fee Waiver form here (Spanish form) to determine if your family qualifies for other financial assistance such as school fees, athletic, and activity fee waivers. Again, completing the application is still necessary for other programs and assists with funding for educational programs in District 15.
