Meet Your Missions Partner
Making those near and far a little more familiar
Say Hello to Larry Buckman!
Larry and his wife Fay have served in missions for 45 years: many of those years being in Ecuador, but the last 10 years have been mostly in Brazil and Africa, training national pastors. Recently the Lord has opened some great opportunities to partner with other organizations like RENEW OUTREACH, The American Bible Society, In Touch Ministries, Faith Comes by Hearing, Jesus Film, and CRU.
Hear directly from Larry about their mission:
"In Brazil, we train tribal missionaries alongside the indigenous churches and various missions in the areas. The other missions we work with include those such as UNIEDAS of the Terena Tribe, OMITTAS of the Ticunas, JOCUM (YWAM Brazil), MAF, SIL, and the Brazilian Bible Society. Together we trained 145 indigenous missionaries last year to reach their neighboring tribes, especially the 'Unengaged and Unreached People Groups' (UUPGs). Brazil has 122 UUPG's of which our team has adopted for this year. Our greatest joy is to empower our local missionaries to do what we cannot - to go where no white missionary can!
In Africa, we are doing something similar but the context is different. The churches are growing so quickly that we can't train the pastors fast enough! MINTS International Seminary has developed Bachelor to Doctoral degree programs for leaders in over 50 countries. Our challenge has been to develop an oral platform using Bible stories to teach doctrine and Biblical principles.
This year, I'm writing three courses titled: 'How To Change Your Community', 'Biblical Counseling According to Genesis 1-12', and 'Basic Biblical Doctrines In Stories.' The needs are growing as the Church of Jesus Christ advances. As Moses wrote his song in Psalms 90:12 - 'So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.' There is no better way to invest our lives than to make them count for God's Kingdom."
