Collegiate Academy at TCC Northeast
January 16, 2022
Reminders: No school on Monday, January 17, 2022.
High school classes are underway and college classes begin on Tuesday. Report cards for the 2nd nine weeks and fall semester were posted on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
Phoenix Families,
As you begin the new semester, remember the Phoenix Strategies for Success!
Find your Vision.
Work Hard.
No Excuses.
Learn from Failure.
Be Grateful.
If you follow these five strategies, you will be successful! I interviewed a prospective student this past week and he answered a question about studying for tests by having his mom put his video games in the attic. I thought that was an awesome answer! What do you need to put in the attic literally or figuratively to be successful for tests or assignments? Maybe you need to put your phone, your friends, your work or anything else that interferes with your studies. Whatever it is you need to do to be successful in your studies, do it! And as always, the faculty and staff at Collegiate Academy are here to help!
CA is sponsoring CA Gives Back this month! Many of us clean out our closets, garages, and do some redecorating in January. We would love for you to bring your clothes, household goods, toys, tools, etc., to share with Phoenix Families. Please donate items that are in good condition and usable. For example, I bought my granddaughter a bike last Christmas to ride at my house. However, she has outgrown it already. I’m donating it. If you have items, but no way to get them here, let us know and we will provide a pick-up service. Let’s share what we have with each other! I am so grateful for the Phoenix Family and the way we serve together. For additional information or if you need assistance getting your items here, please contact Yvonne Aguirre. Yvonne.aguirre@gcisd.net We will be taking donations through January 21, 2022.
Always grateful,
Ms Knutz
TEXTBOOKS
The TCC Bookstore is experiencing longer than anticipated shipping times from publishers. Be sure to check with your Pathways teachers and your email frequently for updates. Please be patient and we will update you when textbooks begin to arrive at the TCC NE campus. Remember, it is your responsibility to always maintain open, professional communication with your TCC professors. If you have a textbook concern, first email your TCC professor.
6TH PERIOD
Just a reminder, during the first two weeks of the semester, you will repeat your first period class during 6th period. For example, if you have Pathways first on Monday, you will have Pathways during 6th on Monday. We do this so that students will have more time to take care of their beginning of semester college needs with their Pathways teachers. Clubs will resume meeting during the 6th period on January 24th.
AWARDS CEREMONY - A and AB HONOR ROLL
On January 18th during 1st period, we are going to celebrate all of the great work our students have accomplished during the fall semester. We will have AB and A Honor Roll celebrations with light refreshments during 1st period classes. Juniors and Seniors, please join us, and you will be celebrated in the Common Area with Mrs. Mccormack. However, parents are invited to our Underclassmen Awards located at TCC’s Center Corner towards the end of the spring semester. More information about Underclassmen Awards is coming soon!

Covid -19 PROTOCOLS
The District will continue to follow the protocols outlined for the 2021-2022 school year, including strongly recommending the use of face masks for all students and staff. These mitigation efforts helped the District minimize the spread of COVID-19 in our schools this fall and we hope the collective commitment to wear a mask, watch your distance and wash your hands will continue to be effective in the Spring.
IMPORTANT UPDATE ABOUT GCISD CLINIC
GCISD - COVID TESTING CLINIC
Due to the high demand of COVID-19 testing, the low supply of available tests, and our current rate of tests administered, the District is projected to run out of tests prior to receiving the next shipment. For these reasons, the following changes are being implemented immediately:
Only symptomatic individuals may be tested at the GCISD COVID Testing Center.
There will be no Sunday appointments.
Appointments will be available on a day-to-day basis based on the number of tests available.
Please find additional information on local testing centers here. Test availability, wait times and cost may vary by location.
The District will update families and staff on the test availability as the supply changes. If you have any specific questions, please contact health@gcisd.net. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
