ESL

Specialized Training:
Full day of learning at the PDC for all program teachers and teachers who may be working with newcomer emergent bilingual students.
- ELAR ESL Teachers will be previewing newly developed curriculum documents and working on planning lessons to implement.
- ESL Math, Science, and Social Studies teachers will be reviewing strategies for working with emergent bilingual students at the beginning and intermediate stages of learning English to ensure their lessons are comprehensible and also ensure that students are developing academic English.
Teachers will engage in professional learning on dual language strategies and take a closer look at the curriculum.
Paraprofessionals will receive the required yearly training to administer the PreLAS and/or LAS links for the identification of English Learners.
MATH
August 4

Full day of learning at Guyer HS (room D102) for the Carnegie Learning Resources, which will be the primary resource for the class.
Teachers will engage in professional learning provided by SpringBoard focused on Purposeful Planning.
Teachers will receive curriculum updates and will select a session of professional interest from three research-based instructional practices.
