Negative PCR Results-
I would like to be sure we are very clear with our return to school policy. Whenever we need a negative test back, it is always a negative PCR result. We need them when your child is returning from a quarantine, from travel, or when they are sent home sick. You can send your negative results either on Class Dojo to myself, Jahelia or Tyler (our nurse), or you can email them to email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding through this trying time.
Here is what was posted on December 10th on our ClassDojo:
Recently we have seen an uptick in positive COVID-19 cases in our school. At this time, even fully vaccinated people are testing positive with the virus. We have had questions regarding who we quarantine and who we do not. Below please find our guidelines, developed with support and guidance from our medical director, Dr. Robert Griffith.
Who Needs to Quarantine When Identified as a Close Contact
· All unvaccinated students and staff Note: A person is not considered fully vaccinated until 14 days after their second shot.
· All vaccinated students and staff who are not able to wear masks, even if they have a mask exemption signed by their medical doctor
Who Does Not Need to Quarantine when Identified as a Close Contact
· All vaccinated students and staff who wear a mask consistently throughout the day
Who Needs to Get a Negative PCR and Share with the School
· All students and staff who are considered close contact, whether they are in quarantine or are able to remain in the building.
o PCR Test should be completed between days 5 and 7 of exposure.
NOTE: Negative PCR must be shared with the school in order to return from quarantine or remain in the building at the end of the class’ quarantine period.
If a negative PCR Is not received, your child will not be able to return to the building or remain in the building until one is received. He/She will not be eligible for distance learning at that time.
We understand that this is a very difficult situation for all of our families, as you are not given a lot of time from when you are notified to when your child will need to stay home and quarantine. We do apologize for this inconvenience, but we respond as soon as we are notified of a positive case. We will continue to follow the Rhode Island Department of Health recommendations as well as the Governor’s Executive Orders and our internal decisions for keeping all students and staff as healthy as possible.
Many of you are traveling during the holiday season and break. Please be sure you are aware of all of our polices for travel during the pandemic to keep everyone safe. Also, please also remember that being fully vaccinated means that we are a full two weeks past the last dose of the vaccine at the time of travel.
