French I&E Enrichment
During Intervention and Enrichment, French students had the opportunity to learn and play the classic French card game “Mille Bornes.” They looked up the instructions and strategies on the internet, and then enjoyed a cup of “chocolat chaud” while playing. Students in either level of French can sign up to join Madame on Wednesdays during I & E to learn a variety of French games, dances, and more.
Holiday Gift Card Collection
This holiday season, the Lenape Health Office is partnering with Student Services to provide some of our own families with a bit of extra support. If you are in the position to donate, we are asking for gift card donations to: Target, Kohls, Amazon, Walmart, Costco, and BJs as well as all grocery stores. Any denomination would be helpful, as we are looking to serve approximately 25 families. If you would prefer to write a check, it may be made payable to Lenape Middle School, with the memo line “holiday”. Donations will be accepted at the Lenape Front Office, Nurses Office, or Student Services from Monday, 11/28 through Friday, 12/16. We appreciate your consideration and support.
NJHS Update
Our NJHS (National Junior Honor Society) students have been working on quite a few opportunities already this year. They have been peer tutoring, decorating the halls for our veterans, gathering members of the community to donate blood, organizing our food drive donations and so much more! We also had a record number of members apply for officer positions this year. It is great to see so many students who are excited and willing to take a leadership role. We hope in the upcoming months, our officers will be announced to their fellow classmates and continue to positively impact our community. Stay tuned!

HVAC Project Update
The new year will bring some positive and exciting changes to our building! We will begin a renovation project that will provide air conditioning, upgraded lighting, and cosmetic improvements throughout the entire building. The project is scheduled to conclude in the fall of 2024.
The first phase of the project begins in January when ceilings in the corridors will be removed to access and install ductwork. Beginning in March, banks of five to six classrooms will be vacated for periods of approximately six weeks. As a result, many teachers will be moving classrooms at some point during this school year and next school year. To accommodate these moves, we will set up temporary classrooms in the library and the aux gym.
We will continue to share progress updates throughout the project. Although we will face minor inconveniences during this renovation project, the upgrades will make our building more comfortable, more efficient, and more visually appealing.

Laptop Breakage
We have seen a rise in the amount of screen breaks for student laptops. Our policy covers for 2 broken screens per device. If your child’s laptop screen breaks 3 times, we will be required to send you an invoice for the repair and labor. The current cost for this is $200. Please remind your child to care for their laptops. Some simple steps to assist are:
- Use two hands when holding or moving the device.
- Use clean hands while using the laptop or iPad.
- Use only the provided digital pen or finger on the screen.
- Use only the power adapter that came with the device.
- Use a microfiber cloth to clean the screen.
- Keep device stored in the provided case. This includes traveling through the hallways, on buses, or anytime the device is not being utilized.
- Make sure nothing is on the keyboard, close the lid, and remove all cables if any are plugged into the laptop. Place laptop in your bag carefully.
- Be careful when placing your case on the floor. Keep the device off the floor so screens do not get stepped on by others.
