Students return to classrooms at Kraxberger and Gladstone High School
This week Kraxberger and Gladstone High School students in the hybrid program returned to classrooms, including 62% of high schoolers and 63% of middle schoolers. They remain connected with distance learning classmates through morning online learning.
Across the district students engaged in spirited debates, used microscopes, practiced Spanish conversation, and solved math problems, excited to connect with teachers and classmates in person.
Superintendent Bob Stewart is fully confident that full-time in-person learning will be available when the new school year begins this fall.
Key Club tackles service project
Tree and shrub damage caused by February’s ice storm can still be seen all over Gladstone. This week the Gladstone High School Key Club pitched in to help with the on-going cleanup effort, hauling away nearly 1,000 pounds of yard debris from the Kiwanis District Office in Gladstone.

New sign welcomes students at John Wetten Elementary
When students returned to classroom learning at John Wetten Elementary, they discovered a beautiful new sign in front of the school. Made from a live edge slab of redwood, it memorializes the large tree that was a historic part of the school grounds many years ago.
Work on the sign was a collaborative effort of groundskeepers James Dallas and Rian Crocker, working with Linda Alberico, head secretary at John Wetten Elementary.
“None of us had done a project like this before, so we learned by doing,” said Dallas. “Linda was super fun to work with and a huge help in choosing a nice-looking font. We’re all happy how well it turned out.”
