MAP testing begins next week for all students in grades K2 to 8!
~Students in grades 2 to 8 will take the Reading, Math, and Language assessments.
How can I support my child at home to best prepare for the MAP test? Great questions!
Here are a few suggestions:
- Talk about what it means to do your best on MAP...there is no studying needed the night before! Students should come to school, ready to try their best and give 100%. Remaining focused on the question that is being asked, using test-taking strategies, asking for breaks as needed, using scrap paper provided to think through questions, and to take their time!
- Talk with your child about individual and personalized goals they have set for themselves and with their teacher.
- Make sure your child has a good night's sleep and eats a healthy breakfast the day of MAP testing. It is always best to have your child at school on time, but it is extremely important during testing. It is diifuclt for students to enter the classroom space late when their classmates have already started the testing.

Catholic Schools Foundation Gala
Students created a unity quilt similar to the Lower Mills design hanging proudly in our main hallway. Students painted on the spot self-portraits for the guests at the Catholic Schools Foundation Inner-City Scholarship Fund Gala. The beautiful piece you see above now hangs in their office downtown! Guests, donors, and benefactors were so amazed by our artists. More importantly, they were blown away by the respect, poise, and love that they exemplified! #LowerMillsLEADERS

Samantha ("Sammy Jo") from 4A, thank you for exemplifying Love to Others!
Samantha continually is a kind and caring friend to all. If a classmate or friend is having a difficult, Sammy Jo is always one of the first students to reach out and ask if there is anything she can do to help. Samantha is extremely honest and is seen as a leader amongst her peers. The month of May is the month of Our Blessed Mother, and the love that Mary shows to all of us. We know that Our Blessed Mother will continue to look over Sammy as she supports and shows compassion to all. We are so proud of you Samantha Weathers!
