Third Annual Costume Dance
On Friday the 13th, Student Council hosted its third annual costume dance for the students of SHS. There were many great costumes in attendance! The dance started right after the 4th quarter of the girl’s basketball game, and lasted until 11 that night. During the dance, there was a costume competition. Teachers that had agreed to chaperone roamed the dance floor searching for the costumes they believed were superior to all others. The categories were: Individual (male and female), Couples, and Group.
The individual male winner as Evan Howser, who came dressed as Napoleon Dynamite (not Bonaparte). Madeline Parker reigned as the female champion with her Davy Crockett costume. Travis Sparkman and Sara Edwards killed the competition as characters from The Book of Life. Ariel Scott, Megan Rosemeyer, and Gabbi Buckner saw victory with their group costume of The Three Blind Mice.
The Student Council wishes to thank all chaperones, custodial staff, attending students, and helpful administrators for their help with the Costume Dance.
FFA Update
While at convention, members attended a concert, a rodeo, a chapter fun night that consisted of putt- putt golf & laser tag, and one convention general session. The chapter made the very best of every moment at convention by constantly learning, meeting new people, and bonding as a family. In November 4 members traveled to the Indiana FFA Leadership Center in Trafalgar to attend SOAR, the leadership camp for Freshman and Sophomore members. Executive team member and sophomore member, Emma Hall, says “ SOAR is such a great learning experience, I enjoied the banquet and the dance the most, but I recommend the camp to all upcoming members.”
On November 17th, the chapter went bowling for the monthly chapter outing and had a great time. Monday, November 30th the executive team took a trip down memory lane and traveled to SMS to speak with 8th graders about future potential membership. The chapters one fundraiser of the year, fruit sales, also began in November and ends December 2nd. All members and SHS Ag students are participating and appreciates all support. Scottsburg FFA wishes everyone a Happy Holiday season and has many plans to look forward to in the month of December.
