Device Replacement Reminders: Year 2 Staff device replacement is here again. Roosevelt will be replaced during 12/2 - 12/13. We will be starting in the office to give certificated staff a chance to bring their laptops back if they took them home during Thanksgiving break.
Please be aware that we will be working from 5am-7am and 3:30pm-6:30pm daily to replace all laptops and desktops that are on the lease program (devices have an Orange VUSD tag on them). IT will be collecting the laptop, charger (if this isn't returned the site will be charged $51 per missing charger), and docking station from each certificated employee. We will be collecting the desktop, keyboard, and mouse from each classified employee.
Please make sure to follow these steps to allow a smooth transition.
Remove all personal stickers from the devices we will be collecting (leave the VUSD tags please).
Backup your data, IT will not be doing backups of any data.
Backup your files with Google Drive
Backup your files to a flash drive
Move your files to your district G drive.
During your replacement window please keep your teacher workstation clear of clutter. If we cannot safely access your work station, we will skip your room.
During your replacement window please leave your laptop, and charger on your desk. Please don’t take it home during this time period or your room will be skipped.

ILT REPRESENTATIVES: Thank you to all the Prides that have completed information in our Pride Conferences Reflection Document. If your Pride hasn't completed the columns yet, please have a recorder add information about our current conference practices and purposes for conferences. We also added a column to this document where we can track attendance/participation for our November conferences so that we can better reflect on our practices schoolwide. Please record the number of students/families who attend or participate in conferences last week so that we can debrief in ILT. Our next ILT meeting is December 12th from 3:30-5:30 pm.
SPIRIT WEEK IS COMING! Check out the details so you can participate!

Vista Unified LCAP and Budget Community Forums
In order to fully engage the Vista community in discussions about potential budget solutions and to gather input and recommendations, VUSD has set a series of LCAP and Budget Community Forums taking place around the district. We will have Spanish interpretation available at all forums. Further, we will be posting to the Vista Unified web page a link to a digital feedback form for all community members who are not able to attend a forum in person. We will also be fully engaging our bargaining units (Vista Teachers Association and the California School Employees Association), as well as the District English Language Advisory Committee, District Parent Advisory Committee and the Vista Parent Teachers Association in feedback and recommendations for budget solutions.
Regular Board Meeting, First Interim Report: December 12th at 6:00 p.m.
"Thinking is invisible. Our cognitive processes become apparent to others only when we speak or write. Many concepts and skills we teach are abstract; sharing thinking with students allows them to glimpse the inner workings of our brains as we process and act upon abstract information. The research world calls this a "think aloud." Because we worry that this term focuses exclusively on the teacher, whereas students should also be thinking, we use the phrase "think along."
Check out this article and watch the video for more info about the "Think Along" Protocol!
