Balclutha Primary School - T3 Wk 2
Newsletter 5 August 2022
Principal's Report
Welcome to Week 2.
This week the nominations closed for the Board of Trustees. As we had 5 nominations for 5 vacancies, there is no need for an election.
It is with great excitement that we welcome Aaron Sutherland and Morgan Watt on to the Board as parent trustees and Linda Swallow as the staff trustee. They will join existing Board members Rachael Watt, Karla McPhee and Stacey Labes to form our new Board of Trustees. I am excited to see how our new Board will build on the fantastic school we currently have and help lead us to an even brighter future.
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our outgoing Board members for their huge contribution to Balclutha Primary School over the last 3 years.
Kim Strawbridge has held the Health and Safety portfolio, and as part of that has helped to oversee our response to the COVID pandemic, and has worked to set up a school Health and Safety committee made up of staff, students and the Board.
Jolene Ollerenshaw held the position of Board chair, and during her tenure oversaw a number of significant events, including the changing of Principal and our 2020 and 2021 lockdowns.
Heather Willocks has been the staff trustee for a number of years, and her wealth of institutional knowledge is significant and has been a real asset at the Board table. The staff and school would like to thank Kim, Jolene and Heather for their many contributions to the Balclutha Primary School Board of Trustees.
Ngā mihi nui,
Vicki Neave
