Career Cruising at FHN

Throughout the month of September, the FHN counselors have been meeting with Juniors and Seniors to share important information about college and career planning. We will continue this work with Sophomores next week. With the support and guidance of the FHN Counselors, here's a snapshot of what your student has been working on this month:

With graduation just around the corner, Seniors received an overview of the college planning process and utilized college & career planning tools via Career Cruising . This included exploring the factors to consider when selecting a college, an overview of the application process, information about scholarships & financial aid, how to get the most out of campus visits, and exploring college majors and career paths. We were pleased to find that that many of our Seniors have already begun the application process. For those who have not yet begun, please be mindful of application requirements and deadlines, which vary by institution. Counselors are also meeting with Seniors individually prior to Fall Break to check in on their progress and provide any further assistance that may be needed.

Juniors utilized Career Cruising to complete career assessments, including interest and skills inventories to help identify potential career paths. They also explored occupational information, researched and compared college characteristics, and began crystallizing their post-secondary plans.

Counselors will meet with Sophomores during the week of September 28th. Students will utilize Career Cruising to take the Matchmaker Interest Inventory to help identify potential career interests as they begin formulating post-secondary plans.

Parents, ask your student to log into Career Cruising and share their plan with you!
