Traffic Flow at Meadowlark
The following traffic flow plan has been developed with the cooperation of the District Office administration, school administration and the Andover Police Department. Please read carefully and follow it exactly so that we can ensure the safety of all our students. Please refer to the map below for further clarity.
School begins at 8:45 a.m. and ends at 3:45 p.m. Students should arrive no earlier than 8:30 a.m. The front doors will remain locked until 8:35 and supervision can happen. There will be no direct supervision of students prior to 8:35 a.m., so for the safety and well being of your children, we ask that you make child care arrangements for your children. Neighbors or relatives may be able to watch your children before school, or the YMCA has a latchkey program at Meadowlark. Information about the program can be found at http://www.ymcawichita.org/child-care-camp/after-school. Students who arrive after 8:45 a.m. must have a parent sign them in through the office. Parents wishing to pick up their children prior to the designated dismissal time must sign their child out through the school office.
In the morning, the buses should arrive at the school at approximately 8:35 am and will deliver the students to the SOUTH parking lot. All bus students will enter and exit through the SOUTH doors. In the afternoon, the buses should arrive at the school at approximately 3:35 pm and will deliver students home from the SOUTH parking lot. The south parking lot is reserved for staff parking and for bus loading and unloading. This is NOT to be used by parents for drop off/pick up.
Parents dropping off children in the morning or picking up in the afternoon need to use the CENTER parking lot at the main entrance to the school. Please remain in your car and form one line. Students will need to exit and enter from the passenger side of the car. During dismissal time, we ask that you have a sign (8 1/2 x 11) visible on your front dash/window so that we can quickly identify which child goes with each vehicle. Please list the names of all the children whom you are picking up (WRITE BIG!). If you are interested in parking and walking your student(s) into the building in the morning or meeting your students inside the building in the afternoon, you MUST park in the north parking lot (eCademy) or in the church parking lot. The main entrance parking lot is off limits to parent drop off and pick up during these times.
If there is a change in your normal routine for arrival and dismissal, i.e. your child is to be picked up by someone other than the bus or parent, a note must be sent with the student so the teacher and the bus driver are aware of your permission for the change. To ensure the safety of your child, we will not allow a child to leave with anyone other than a parent or bus driver unless notified by the parent.
Thank you for complying with these procedures so that all our children will remain safe.
