Lunch Menu for November!
Crestwood School District is Peanut/Tree Nut Free!
Several students in our school community have severe, potentially life threatening allergies. Peanuts/Tree Nuts are prohibited, for consumption or use, within any Crestwood School District building. This applies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for classrooms and school/athletic events.
Peanuts or tree nuts includes, but is not limited to almonds, cashews, walnuts, hazelnuts, pistachios, brazil nuts, macadamia nuts, chestnuts, pecans. Items that contain peanuts or tree nuts could include nuts in cookies, granola bars, trail mix, snack mixes, pesto and more. It is important to read the ingredient lists in items.
No items containing peanuts or tree nuts are permitted in the classroom or school building, except those within a closed lunch container brought from home.
Student lunch containers may not be opened in the classroom at any time.
Individual snacks to be eaten during the school day in a classroom should be in a separate bag or pocket of a backpack so student lunch containers do not have to be opened.
If you bring in classroom snacks, only snacks and treats that are peanut/tree nut free may be served.
Classroom activities and projects – peanuts and tree nuts may not be used in the classroom for learning activities.
It is imperative that all staff follow the District Health and Wellness policy when it concerns food items in the classroom. ALL food that is given or sold to students that they do not bring themselves needs to be peanut/tree nut free.

Dismissal Reminder!
- If you are planning on picking up your child early from school, you must call the office to let us know by 12:00
- If your child is going home a different way, please let your child know and his/her teacher know at the start of the day if you are able to. We are aware that last minute changes may occur. You may always call the office if you are unable to contact your child's teacher early enough.
- Picking up children after 3:00 for the sake of convenience is making it very difficult for our office staff and teachers. We are asking that students remain in school until dismissal unless you have an appointment and have notified the school or in an emergency situation.
- All families picking up students from the front doors will need to wait behind the blue cones. Please understand that we are trying to get students out of the building safely. When adults are near the door, it makes it difficult for families that are waiting for their children behind the cones very difficult to see their child exit the building.
- Thank you for understanding!
IMPORTANT: Attendance
Greetings Crestwood Families,
Daily and timely attendance significantly enhances your child’s educational experience, vastly improves their chances of success and is required by the Compulsory School Laws of the State of Michigan. As we approach the end of the year we are reminding all Crestwood Families of their responsibilities:
All parents ensure contact information is updated (phone numbers and emails)
All parents avoid removing students from the classroom during the school day.
All parents sign students in and out when students arrive late or are exited early. Students entering school late or leaving school early must be signed in and out by a parent, no exceptions. Students will not be allowed to enter the building without a parent signing them in.
If your child is unable to attend school, contact the school office.
Students absent in excess of 10% of instructional days will be placed on Truancy Verification, which may result in loss of credit, student retention, legal action or both.
State law requires regular attendance. Students leaving the country for over 2 week will be dropped from the Crestwood School District and will be required to re-register their child at the Board Office. Please note we can not guarantee that a student will return to the same class and/or school.
Important: Additional Attendance Reminders!
- Students need to be in school every single day, all day long!
- Please call our office at 313-278-8390 to report absences
- All absences that are not reported are considered unexcused
- All students need to arrive by 8:35
- Please note 3 tardies are equal to an absence
- Call the office by 12:00 if your child need to be released early for an appointment
- Give yourself sufficient time to arrive at school for your appointment. We will only call your child down when you arrive to school
- Students need to be in school until 3:40 unless the school has been notified by 12:00 for an appointment or a family emergency.
