Emergency Lesson Plan Logistics
Emergency Substitute Plans are due on Thursday, August 16th by 5:30 PM.
In addition to ensuing that each component of your Emergency Substitute plan is completed (download and customize), please ensure that the following is provided for the 3 days of instructional plans.
(Please make full copies of three days worth of instructional materials and plans.
· Day 1- Activities should reflect the skills learned at the beginning of the year.
· Day 2 & 3- Activities should increase in rigor and should be geared towards the middle of
the school year and end of year skills.
· Extra Time Fillers (I’m Through What Can I Do Assignments- should be included in all sub
folders)
Reading & Writing Units of Study Updates
Units of Study launch week is here! You are more than equipped and prepped to have a successful week of Reading and Writing instruction. Remember, it’s a marathon.. not a race so we will focus on mastering the art of finding success in one or two things before we expect success in all things at once. Go after your one or two things this week!

AVID Updates:
- AVID Strategy for K-2 Aug-Sep: Setting a Purpose ; AVID Strategy for 3-5: Marking the text
- We will go live with the Social Studies AVID strategies the week of Monday, August 19th, but of course you are most welcomed to start this week for safe practice.
- Be sure to include the following in your Social Studies lesson plans: the text that you will use, the day you will be utilizing the strategy, and your focus questions
- AVID binders should be set up by Friday, August 17th. Please see the attachment for specific instructions on the organization for setting up the binders.
