Parent Interest Meetings for the Virtual Academy
The I.W. Taylor Virtual Academy is holding parent interest meetings this coming week. On February 27 - March 1, the Academy will host two meetings per day, one at 12 p.m. and one at 5 p.m. All meetings will be virtual. Here is the M-W 12 noon link. Here is the M-W 5pm link.

Celebrating CTE Month at GW
Mrs Argyrakis' Senior Nurse Aide II students were able to Celebrate CTE Month by collaborating with Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Abourjilie, and Mrs. Dauber-Slade's classes with Heart Health. Teaching and Learning was had by all as we danced, read and participated in making Heart Pillows. This is how our CTE Nursing Assistant students demonstrate respect for diversity.
GW football team partners with Rise Against Hunger
On Sunday, the GW football team volunteered with Rise Against Hunger to pack over a 1,000 bags of food to send overseas to help stop hunger.
GW Dental students visit Gibson
Mrs. Smith's Dental I students celebrated Dental Health Month by visiting Gibson Elementary School's kindergarten classes.
Hands-on learning at Westwood
At Westwood, Mrs. Bartee's and Ms. Dixon's students made homemade bouncy balls with Mrs. Abbey from Camp Grove during Science class.

New Teacher Academy session hosted at Danville museum
On February 15 & 16, Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History hosted our NTA session. We had a wonderful time working in small groups. Mentors, teacher leaders, and ITRTs came to support in Fundations, SMART goals, classroom management, Go Guardian, and guidance.
Fifth graders visit the Virginia Museum of Natural History
This week, Danville Public Schools' 5th-grade students from each elementary school had the fantastic opportunity to participate in the Speedy Building Educator-Led Program at the Virginia Museum of Natural History in Martinsville, VA. Our students experienced math by using LEGO bricks to measure distance and time traveled and construct a graph to understand how to calculate speed. The DPS Math Curriculum and Instruction Team sponsored this field trip Team.

Seventh grade students at Westwood Middle visited the Danville court house this week to learn more about judicial procedures and see the judicial system in action!
