Cardinal Connection
January 3, 2021
Welcome Back Cardinals & Happy New Year!
We hope you and your family are doing well and you were able to enjoy your Winter Break. We are looking forward to "seeing" each and everyone of you again on January 4th. All Lakeport Unified Schools will remain in distance learning until it is determined that our school sites are prepared and it is safe to bring people together again on campus. Students that have already been on campus since the start of the school year may continue in-person learning. Please refer to the schedule your CLHS student's teacher shares with you.
During the first two weeks of the semester, students will have the opportunity to request a schedule change. Although, options are more limited this school year, students can make this request by filling out the form in their grade level Google Classroom. Once schedule changes are complete and all classes are balanced to stay below the maximum occupancy for each classroom, we will share the assigned Hybrid A and B groups with students.
Just a reminder, we will be starting our new bell schedule upon our return. Due to the reduction of instructional minutes in each class, it is very important that students log into their classes on time. Teachers will be available in the afternoons from 1:00 - 2:00 to provide additional support for students and answer any questions. Wednesdays will continue to be mostly asynchronous days, with the exception that students need to attend their Cardinal Advisory Period. Teachers will have office hours on Wednesdays 9:35 - 10:35.
As we continue to see more positive cases in our community, it is important that we all following the recommended guidelines for health and safety:
Properly wearing your mask while on campus
Hand washing/sanitizing
Maintaining 6ft social distancing
Self-Assess Health & Wellness - check for symptoms
Staying off campus if you have been exposed to COVID-19, are positive for COVID-19, or are showing any symptoms
The CLHS office remains open during business hours. Please use the doorbell, properly wear a mask and sign in at the front desk. If your visit needs to last longer than 5 minutes, you may be asked to take your temperature. Just dropping off something? We got that covered! We now have a locked dropbox located to the right of the office doors.
Again, we would like to wish you and your family a Happy New Year!!!
Mrs. Scheel & Mrs. Roderick
Happy New Year!
Welcome to our second semester. During the second semester, we will be adding some activities and attendance incentives. I would like to remind everyone attendance is crucial for your student’s academic and social well-being. Although they are on ZOOM, they are still provided an opportunity to interact and talk with others. I have included some new activities and attendance information for the semester.
Student Activities:
This month, we will begin hosting student club meetings. Next week Leadership will host a virtual club rush; during this time, students will be able to explore and sign up for clubs that may be of interest to them. Clubs are a great way to be involved with the school and outside community activities. We hope everyone finds something that they will want to participate in. Don’t forget to follow leadership’s Instagram page @clhsleaders to catch a glimpse of our Cardinal Family.
Yearbooks are on sale! Order early for a discounted price of $70.00. Order your book today; the yearbook students are working to capture the year's history and uniqueness. Yearbooks are available at https://www.jostens.com/yearbooks/students-and-parents/about-yearbooks.
Please call Mrs. Frazell or Mrs. Roderick if you have any questions.
Attendance:
Although we are learning at home, please remember the students must attend their daily zoom lessons. It is a chance to connect with other students and their teachers for a collaborative learning experience. If your child experiences difficulties, please have them contact their teachers or school counselor. If you have any attendance questions, please contact Mrs. Roderick or Ms. Frediani to assist you. We continue to encourage your child to participate fully by being on time, focused, and ready to attend fully engaged with the course, class, and teacher. In the second semester, we will have distant learning attendance-based class competitions and individual incentives. Stay tuned for more information.
We look forward to continuing to develop our educational partnership to help all CLHS students succeed.
Happy New Year,
Mrs. Roderick
Schedule Changes
Schedule changes will take place in the first two weeks after we return from Winter Break. If you would like to request a change, look for the schedule change request form in your grade level Google classroom. You must submit the form, email requests will not be honored. Thank you,
Mrs. Maize (10th-12th) & Mr. Simental (9th)
Report Cards
And just a reminder, students and parents can always log into the Aeries portal to view grades and attendance. You can find the link to the portal on the district and CLHS websites.
Art & Ceramics Info -
As a result of both the unfilled position and the new hybrid schedule, we will be dissolving the Art teacher's Cardinal Advisory Period and moving those students to one of the other four senior CAP classes. Students in this CAP should check their email to learn who their new teacher will be for the second semester. Mrs. Maize will be making these schedule changes before Wednesday 1/6.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience on this matter. We hope to find an excellent Art/Ceramics teacher soon!
