National Get Fit, Don't Sit Day

The American Diabetes Association has designated May 4th as National Get Fit, Don't Sit Day! They encourage adults to get up and move around every 90 minutes throughout the day. Here are a few ideas of ways to get moving!


  • Set reminders on your phone or computer to remind you to get up and move every 90 minutes.
  • Turn your next meeting into a standing or walking meeting if possible.
  • Use your 15 minute breaks as walking breaks.
  • Do some simple stretches at your desk.
  • Take the long route to the bathroom.
  • Bike to work.

Join our Pack for the 2016 Mutt Strut - May 15th

Exciting update on our IndyPL Mutt Strut Pack! The Library will reimburse $10 of the registration fee! The event, put on by the Humane Society of Indianapolis, will take place from 12 to 3 at Garfield Park. IndyPL's Pack meet-up time will be announced at a later date, and please note that you do not need to have a pet to participate.
