Vista Testing Center Is Our Community Wide Tool To Keep Us Safe
Our collective efforts as a community will determine the success we will have keeping students and staff safe in the coming weeks and months. There is an expanding chorus of medical professionals who are signaling that students need to be back on campus with their teachers and support staff members. Our school board will be discussing this very topic during the December 15, 2020 Board Meeting starting at 6:00 p.m. Please visit the website for details.
Every member of our community has the power to make a difference in combating the virus. You can wear a mask, wash your hands often, keep surfaces clean, stay safely apart, and get tested for COVID-19 periodically. Our community is already making an impact with the opening of the COVID-19 Testing Center located at the Linda Rhoades Recreation Center. The center is now averaging over 500 members of the community getting tested every day. Our goal is to get that number up to 800 tests per day. Check out the brief video below, and join us in keeping our community safe: test, trace, isolate, and treat.
Superintendent’s Council for Equity and Anti Racism Community Forum
The Superintendent’s Council for Equity and Anti Racism is a group of parents, students, teachers, staff, administration, community members, and board members who meet monthly with a focus on supporting systems and practices that reflect the district’s commitment to equity and anti racism. In our meetings this year, we are discussing professional development opportunities and looking at our discipline and grading policies through an equity lens. An important part of the structure of the Superintendent’s Council is to get feedback from our community. This feedback, as well as data, surveys, and information from a global and national perspective informs the equity and anti racism recommendations that we provide to the superintendent. Please join us on Thursday, December 10th from 5:00-6:00pm for our first Equity and Anti Racism Community Forum. You can access the meeting by using the following Zoom Link.
Sincerely,
