Asa G. Hilliard Elementary School
From the Principal's Desk
HI PANTHER FAMILIES ❤️
Our week three was a busy and successful one for our Panthers. Learning is taking place in all of our classes, and I am happy to see it is being done in a joyful environment. Our goal is to make sure students are growing and are enjoying it. Thank you for your support at home to make this happen.
Last week we had an opportunity to meet several of you during our annual Title 1 Meeting and Curriculum Night. Thank you to those that were able to make it out and for those of you that couldn't there will be more opportunities for you to engage in the near future. As I mentioned during our state of Asa Hilliard address, our priorities are to keep our students safe, socio-emotionally well and growing. Thank you for your contribution to this work to make our school community successful.
Many of you have asked about house shirts for your student. This week, students will receive and wear their house shirts. All students present on Wednesday will receive and take home their house shirt. They should keep the shirts at home and wear them every Wednesday moving forward. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. Have an amazing week!

HEAT SAFETY
Heat Safety - The following are some helpful HEAT tips for staying safe in extreme heat:
- Hydrate. Whether you feel thirsty or not, drink plenty of water to avoid becoming dehydrated, especially when you're working or exercising outside.
- Educate yourself. Keep up with the latest temperature and heat index forecasts and current readings (take actions to stay cool and safe when the temperatures hit 85 degrees, or the heat index hits 90 degrees). Know the warning signs of a heat illness, and how you can stay cool.
- Act quickly when a heat illness is suspected. Seek medical attention immediately for any of these warning signs: cramping, rapid pulse, heavy sweating, hot red skin, dizziness, confusion, nausea, vomiting.
- Take it easy. Anyone working or exercising outdoors should avoid over-exertion, especially between the hours of 11 am and 6 pm. Take hourly breaks in the shade or in air conditioning.
